Textual analysis

website: Moose BloodBy Emma Weeks

Website layout

• The website contains a blog style home page featuring numerous

posts that can be scrolled through.

• Navigation bars are placed at the top of the home page directly

below the bands name.

• A pink border surrounds the whole website.

• The website was created using a social media site “Tumblr” which

is very well known for fan culture making it the perfect place to

launch a bands site.

Font

• A bold sans serif font is used for the bands

websites title this is the same font used in the

cover for the bands album showing a uniform

house style.

• Some fonts incorporate italics in order to help

them to stand out and appear more visually

dynamic and interesting whilst still

maintaining a sense of simplicity.

• More simplistic sans serif font is used in the

text links on the website giving the website a

modern and easy to read appearance this is

also aided by the fact that all of the text on

the website is presented in all caps giving the

text a striking appearance.

• General text is white, sans serif and uses

standard capitalisation due to the fact that it is

not necessary for this text to be overly eye-

catching.

Colour scheme

• The website has a black background with a

pink border around the outer edges.

• Pastel pink is used in text outlines in order to

tie the websites layout together and give it a

more uniform appearance as well as to help

the text to stand out.

• The pink is the same colour used in on the

bands album artwork for “Blush” this shows

them conforming to a house style.

• This light pastel shade of pink is currently on

trend and is known as “Millenial pink” the tones

name is linked to the fact that as a generation

we are using more and more pink in design

and researchers believe this to be attributed to

the fact that our generation is removing the

negative attributes of femininity and therefore

removing the negative connotations of pink as

a result of the feminist movement.

Mode of address

• The main mode of address

featured on the website is an

imperative command as

illustrated through the pop up

messages from Tumblr to “get

the Tumblr app”.

• The band also addresses the

audience in the first person as

seen in it’s blog posts.
