1 WEBSTER UNIVERSITY
WelcomeWelcome
Graduates, colleagues, friends, family and honored guests: This moment celebrates the culmination of years of diligent work and dedicated study by the exceptional students who select Webster University on their path to global academic excellence. We take pride in Webster’s students who make their homes in places as far apart as Athens and Charleston, Tashkent and Saint Louis, among the many communities Webster calls home.
As Webster alumni, these graduates join an elite global community of accomplished and connected citizens. From the first two graduates in the Class of 1919 to the 4,700 graduates in the Class of 2020, they embody the promise of Webster’s enduring commitment to inclusive education.
Graduates, we know the significance of this day in your life and career, and like you, we are saddened that a global health crisis prevents us from being together in person. But it is important that we take this moment to offer you formal recognition, our deepest respect and a heartfelt congratulations from all of our family, friends and colleagues. Wherever in the world your journey takes you next, and wherever you call home in the future, Webster University goes with you as your proud alma mater.
Congratulations!
Dr. Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble, Chancellor

2 WEBSTER UNIVERSITY
In the forty-one years that Webster University Geneva has been helping to launch the careers and adult lives of our students, this academic year has been the most unusual of all with the COVID-19 pandemic and the way it has affected universities worldwide and our lives.
As students, as parents, as faculty and administrators, we have all had to learn new ways of operating and organizing ourselves while meeting the same high expectations, and to do it all in an environment where ambiguity has replaced certainty.
In a way, I think this experience has been a great opportunity for us all. For you graduates, the ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to rapidly changing conditions will be valuable skills. And I think we have all learned a thing or two about what really matters to us.
This spring so much has changed, but as I look out across our wonderful campus, where the flowers are blossoming and the birds are singing just the way they always have, I am comforted by the steadiness of our institution that has its roots in the 20th century and branches running through the Class of 2020 and beyond.
To the graduates and your families, I wish you the heartiest of congratulations. You have earned it.

WelcomeWelcome to the Webster University Alumni Association
On behalf of the Webster Alumni Association I welcome you as its newest
members. Your graduation is an important moment in life, it is a moment to
celebrate, to look back on the experiences on campus and to look to the
future. This year, the transition from a student of Webster University Geneva
to its alumnae/alumni is overshadowed by the current pandemic of the novel
coronavirus and I am aware that this can cause anxiety about the future. You
may ask yourself questions about whether you will find a job or whether your
studies will be appreciated in these times of uncertainty. As the Webster
Alumni Association we want to be here for you as a strong network. I am
always impressed by stories from our alumni who contribute in so many ways
to find solutions for the most pressing global problems. These stories give hope
and it shows that you are well prepared as global citizens to face the future,
relying upon a quality education you have enjoyed at Webster University.
Your graduation is a time to celebrate and we will do so all together in 2021.
Coming back as alumnae/alumni will be a special moment when participating
in the 2020 and 2021 commencement ceremony. I am looking forward to
meeting you next year and I am curious to hear about your stories. But for now
let me congratulate you all on your success!
