ARRANGEMENTS FOROUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS
As family and friends start making plans totravel to your wedding, there are severalthings that you can do to make it extraspecial for them. Locate several convenient hotelsor inns in a number of price ranges to give your guests
options to suit their needs. Most hotels and inns have
special wedding package rates for the number of rooms
that you can guarantee. Consider making up gift baskets
to be given to each visiting guest, or arrange for trans-
portation from the airport or ceremony and reception
so that they are spared the hassle of trying to navigate a
strange town. These touches, while not expensive, will
go a long way in making your guests feel welcome and
to thank them for the effort they have made to attend
your wedding.

YOURCEREMONY
Even as you plan the different aspects of yourwedding day, don’t lose sight of the signifi-cance of the marriage ceremony and all that itmeans. Your choice of location will determine themood and style of the wedding, and may require you to
make certain allowances: for example, an outdoor
wedding may hinge on fair weather and require an alter-
native location if it rains. There may also be decorative and
photographic restrictions if you are marrying in a house
of worship. Meeting the Officiant and getting to know
him or her well in advance will be time well spent. Take
the time to share your preferences and ideas, and to
hear their views and concerns. This communication and
planning will enrich your ceremony and your wedding day.
QUESTIONS TO ASK THECEREMONY SITE MANAGER:
Is the facility open to non-members?
(Church, Synagogue or Temple)
Do you have any restrictions on times or days
of the week?
Do you have any restrictions or limitations regarding
lighting, cameras, audio or video equipment?
How far in advance must I reserve this location?
Do you have a dress code to be followed?
Are outside musicians such as hired vocalists or
string quartets permitted to perform?
Will any decorations be available through the location?
Is it easily accessible for elderly or handicapped guests?
 Are there dressing rooms?
 Are there adequate restrooms?
What are your terms of payment?
What is your policy on cancellation?

 Will pre-marital counseling be required?
If we have been previously married or belong to

PHOTOGRAPHY
Good photographs will enable you to reliveyour special day over and over; it is importantto trust these memories to a photographerwho has been trained and experienced in wedding photography. When you find a photogra-pher of your liking, first ensure that he or she isavailable for the date and time of your wedding. Plan onbooking your photographer six to nine months prior tothe wedding. Discuss delivery dates of proofs andprints, total cost and the types of pictures you want, both candid and posed. The price of each photographer’sservices will reflect not only the photographs andalbum, but level of experience, expertise, the totalhours of coverage you will get, the kind of equipmentthat will be used, and the number of pictures you willreceive.
It is not uncommon for brides to discuss family dynamicswith the photographer beforehand, in the event thatthere are family members who do not wish to be pho-tographed together. Other details – such as compiling alist of shots not to be missed or asking a close relativeto help the photographer identify family members – canmake things run smoothly, and give you images totreasure for a lifetime.
QUESTIONS TO ASK THE PHOTOGRAPHER: May I see your references, portfolio and albums of recent weddings? May I see samples of the work by the photographer who will photograph my wedding? What type of photography do you specialize in? (Candid, portraits, photojournalistic, black and white or a mixture?) Have you photographed the location of my ceremony and reception before? Are you familiar with the lighting and layout there? What different packages do you offer? What do they include? Are there a certain number of photographs per package? Do you price by an hourly rate or per photograph? Do you go into overtime? Do you include reprints in your pricing? Do you include albums in your pricing? Do you allow couples to purchase the negatives? If not, for how long do you keep the negatives on file? How soon in advance must I reserve your services?
Will you be able to work while a videographer is present? Are there any additional fees that I should know about? What are they? What are your terms of payment? What is your policy on cancellation?

adds a lovely touch. Stretch and super-stretch limousines,
antique or vintage cars, sports and luxury cars, and even
horse-drawn carriages are options to consider for your
wedding day entrance and getaway.
QUESTIONS TO ASK THE TRANSPORTATION COMPANY:
May I see your references and showroom/portfolio?
What types of cars/carriages do you offer?
What are their features and benefits?
What are your prices for each and what does
that include?
Do you belong to any local or national limousine
associations?
What is your city license number?
 What does your insurance cover?
What is the minimum rental time?
Do you charge overtime? When does it begin?
Do you offer special wedding rates or packages?
How far in advance must I reserve the vehicle?
Can you guarantee a certain vehicle for the day
of my wedding?
How will the driver and/or attendants be dressed?
 What decorations will you allow?
What are your terms of payment?
What is your policy on cancellation?
