WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD
Parade of Palms Hosanna, Loud Hosanna UMH 278 Bringing In the Light of Christ Welcome, Announcements, and Opening Prayer Pastor: God is Good People: All the Time
Call to Worship Our Lord entered the gates of the Holy City. Crowds shouted his praise and waved palm branches. But within the bounds of the city there were those who feared him. Even on this day, there are those who let fear claim their lives. Lord, enter our lives this day with your healing presence. Be with us as we march with you toward the cross. Amen.
Opening Hymn All Glory, Laud, and Honor UMH 280 Passing of the Peace of Christ Pastor: May the peace of Christ be with you all. People: And also with you.
Pennies from Heaven This loose coin offering goes to the Casa Aleluya Children’s Home, which cares for orphaned, abused, and mistreated children in Guatemala. All the children are invited to grab a small bucket from the sound booth in the back and collect the loose coins you may feel called to give and then bring them to the large bucket in the front. Children in grades K-5 are invited to go to children’s church after the children’s moment. Sharing of Joys & Concerns
Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Message “...Resurrection of the Body, and the Life Everlasting” Rev. Bradley Swire
Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed UMH 881 I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. * Universal
Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen. Amen.

Message Overview & Notes
I Believe In Resurrection of the Body, and the Life Everlasting
Matthew 6:7-14
”Surely God, who wrote the software that makes up life, has our DNA sequenced and “on file” and can use it to create whatever kind of
“heavenly body” God intends. He does not need our mortal body to raise us from the dead.”
1) “Creed” is a Latin word meaning, “I Believe.” The beliefs
expressed in the Apostle’s Creed are foundational to claiming the name “Christian”.
2) What happens to us when we die? We believe that in Jesus’ death
and resurrection, God gave a definitive answer to the existential questions of death and life beyond death. As important as Jesus’ death is for Christians, it was his resurrection that demonstrated his triumph over evil, hate, sin, and death.
3) “The face of every man shows the trace of the presence of death
in his life, of his fear of death, of his courage toward death, and of his resignation to death. This frightful presence of death subjects man to bondage and servitude all his life.” - Paul Tilllich. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is God’s answer to the “frightful presence of death,” and in one great act on Easter morning Christ liberated believers from death’s “bondage and servitude.”
4) When we read about Jesus’ resurrection, we learn that his body
had changed. These appearances by Jesus may give us pieces of a puzzle regarding what our life in heaven will be like. We will not be a disembodied spirit after death, but instead we will have a glorious body that isn’t subject to disease.
5) Even in our darkest, the words of this Creed is what holds us
together. It helps us remember God’s answers to the deepest wounds, longings, and questions of our hearts. It reminds us of what is true. It captures many of the foundational convictions upon which our lives are built. And it gives us hope.
