Hello SCOLers!!! There is a chill in the air. Well there was for a couple days. As we are all enjoying the fall season and all the related activities it brings with it, the weather Gurus are trying to predict our winter. A very wise friend of mine once said “if they could predict the weather, don’t you think someone would”. That being said, taking a look at the long range predictions seems favorable for SCOL here at home and at our destinations. The Northeast is looking at below normal temps and above normal precipitation in November and December which hopefully means an early season start. The western resorts are hoping to benefit from another La Nina weather pattern and many have snow on the ground now! Thanks to all who came out to the September meeting, we had a great showing with 6 new members on hand. The 2017-18 SCOL calendar of events was announced some of the details were gone over. We have a full slate of events but we need volunteers to chair them or we might have to cancel some. Please consider taking the reins for one of these events. The previous chair is always a big help and the board can certainly point you in the right direction. Grab a friend and do it together. We need your help. We also need volunteers for to be fashion show models for the November meeting. Trust me it is a great way to put together your Christmas list. We are getting closer to having a membership drive event at Kissing Bridge. The details are coming together nicely and we should have it ready to announce at the October meeting. Please take the time to get your equipment in order and tuned. Also, don’t forget yourself. Many of us have fell victim to the summer activities. As much as I would like it to be that easy, 12 ounce curls just aren’t going to get it done preparing for the ski season! Hope to see everyone at the meeting. Enjoy the great weather and be safe.

SKI YA Later!!!!

old Friends, become New again.aND IT JUST MaY be aT Kb! If your like me, I remember when I was a young snow bunny (ha-ha-ha) just learning to ski at KB. And

although that was just a few years ago (hey, so now your ha-ha-ha-ing), I can’t remember when the last time was, that I skied at Kissing Bridge. Many of you have since returned to those familiar slopes, now with your young families, learning to ski & snowboard. But now it’s maybe time that we all reunite with our old friend, KB, and maybe even bring our old friends

that used to ski and haven’t for some years. And maybe you know a friend that doesn’t ski (hard to believe isn’t it?) that would like to give it a try? Well, we’ve got good news! The SCOL Board has been working with those in charge at KB, to put together a SCOL Night. To bring back old friends, and those of us who haven’t skied there in years, or those we’d like to introduce this great sport to, or to invite potential new members to join the great Club. All with potential discounted lift tickets, equipment rentals, and maybe even a lesson for those new to skiing or want to give

that boarding thing a try. All the details are being put together as this issue of SKIfever goes live (electronic distribution for those scratching their heads) We are so blessed to have 2-great Ski Resorts so close to home, that we can enjoy for just the day or night, and get back early enough to go to work the next day. So keep an eye out for the date. Then make a date with old friends. Brings new friends, for a great night on the slopes at . . .

rePorTS: 4 Must be the Magic Number!EAST Trip UpdateOnly 4 Spots Left! FROM CHAIRMAN: Pam Fekete Please bring your 2nd payment of $150, or the total balance due on your trip, to the meeting on Wednesday, October 19th. Remember all balances on trips will be due by the December 20th meeting. It is also important that you bring a valid copy of your border ID (Passport or Enhanced Drivers License) as I am trying to set up an exciting side trip to Quebec City, the Capital City of it’s province, for Tuesday afternoon or evening. Dinner in Quebec City would be on your own, and the cobblestone streets are lined with bistros, boutiques and many opportunities to enjoy one of their great restaurants.

WEST Trip UpdateGot 4 More Sign-Ups! FROM CHAIRMAN: Rusty Fogle We did get 4 more reservations, but there are still spots available, and couples are needed! Remember the 80’s when it didn’t matter where we slept? Well not the same in today’s world. Rooming assignments have become almost as difficult as trying to read the trail map without your cheater glasses on. (sorry Newsletter Editors note added in) Spots left on the trip may not be able to accommodate single travelers. If you are interested in signing-up, it would be best to contact me, Rusty, direct at 434-2202 to discuss roommate availability. And just to remind those who are signed-up, your next payment of $500 is due on or before the November 15th meeting.

A BRAND NEW MEMBER

Just 4 MoreVolunteers to go!

OK we’re almost there, thanks to a brand new member, Ron Gaczewski, who raised his glove, and volunteered to chair one of the biggest & best 1-day events SCOL has to offer. (geese, I hope Ron doesn’t read this till after he gets things rolling, LOL!) Then President, Bill Fekete, skied on board (and no he’s still on 2-sticks, you sillies) to organize the Snowflake Fashion Show scheduled for the November 15th meeting. So that leaves just 4-events to fill. Martin Luther King Day, the Happy Hour at Balloons on Wine & Cheese Weekend, the Bristol Bus Trip (don’t worry booking the bus can be made by one of the Board members to help the process) and the Pot Luck-of the-Irish. For most of these events, it’s just a matter of taking sign-ups, collecting monies, getting the lift tickets and handing them out. Easy, Peasy, Right? As for the Bristol Trip - well I’m sure - as in the past - some SCOLers on that trip will lend helping hands. Remember, SCOL is a Social Club with a Skiing Problem, and It’s Always a Good Time!
