The Wee Grid Gang have been missing Saturday afternoons at the old Museum of Transport, which closed in 2010. So they’re over the moon that the Riverside Museum, Glasgow’s new museum of transport and travel, is now open! It holds twice as many objects, displayed in fun interactive ways.

The Tall Ship is berthed alongside the museum, and the two attractions together make a doubly good day out!

The Riverside Museum is easy to get to by public transport, and just ten minutes’ walk from Kelvingrove. And it’s FREE! See www.glasgowmuseums.com to find out more. An entry fee applies to The Tall Ship – you can get full details at www.thetallship.com

to push, pull and pick up objects and to put food in its mouth and suck up water.

• The giant panda’s thick coat is important for keeping it warm, and the panda keeps it clean by rolling on the ground and rubbing soil into it. The soil absorbs grime and when it dries and falls off, it takes the grime with it!

• Rhino horns are made from the same material as human fingernails!

oll yoU nEEd to know! The Wee Grid caught up with Olly Murs as he prepares to tour with JLS.

How did it feel to become a finalist in X factor?

It was amazing! I think you just need a lot of luck and hope that the judges like what they see; I had a lot of belief in myself. I was lucky enough to get through to the final.

You’re on tour at the moment. What’s it been like so far?

It’s been amazing, it’s great to get out and see all the fans. It’s something I have always wanted to do, I am just really grateful that every venue has sold out and all the fans seem to be really enjoying it.

You’re touring with JLS this summer – you must be looking forward to that?

Yeah they’re great guys and a great laugh, we get on really well. We have both done very well, it’s so great to now do a tour together.

How do your parents cope with having a superstar son – has it changed their lives?

They have a lot more friends calling them up now. But my mum and dad are still the same, they still cook and clean for me.

What’s the best bit about being OLLY MUrS?!

To have a great family and a great set of mates.

lEt’S ShaRE Parentz Tip from Connie, mum of 2

I’m a big believer in introducing children to as many flavours and food types as possible. We’re fortunate to have two of the best eaters going and there’s very little our two kids (ages 7 and 5) won’t eat. Having their friends over for tea is a real eye opener to see how fussy kids can be with food, so we’ll make our own pizzas. The kids are in charge of what goes on theirs so everyone’s happy and they may even try new tastes if you’re lucky!

If your kids like pizza too use your Kidz Card to get 20% off the total food bill when you dine on the A la Carte Menu at Di Maggio’s.

Hello Parentz! This is your page, exclusively for you to ask questions, share tips and generally stay bang up to date with all the money-saving offers available to you across Glasgow Life services and beyond.
