No school assembly on Monday, 22nd November because of Transition Assembly on Friday, 26th November. School Development Day On Sunday Mr. Brian Tickle presented an intensive Mathematics Professional Learning course to staff. He followed up his presentation with class based workshops in the school yesterday. As the staff was willing to hold this school development day on a weekend and another in Term 3, the last day of school this year at Wee Waa Public School for students and staff will be Wednesday, 15th December. Mr. Tickle particularly commended the students for their participation, mathematical thinking and ability to explain to their class how they had arrived at a solution. He says he has enjoyed the presentations and workshops at WWPS because of the enthusiasm of staff and students. Vision and Hearing Checks Thank you to the staff from Community Health who performed the vision and hearing checks for Transition students yesterday. This is a much appreciated service and thank you to Mrs. Helen Haire for coordinating the Community Health personnel to be available on a full Transition day so that as many students as possible could avail themselves of this service. It is a great benefit to the Kindergarten teacher next year to have information about students vision and hearing from the beginning of the year. It also assists the parents to know if their child needs treatment. Attendance The cut off date for the end of year SiP Attendance Award day at the Lightning Ridge Aquatic Centre is drawing closer. Please help your child to meet the attendance criteria so they can have a wonderful day celebrating good attendance. Remember, missing the equivalent of 7 days a term over the years Kinder to Year 6 works out to be the same as missing an entire year of Primary School . We owe it to our children to ensure they get the best possible education by making Year 6 Dress Up Day and Cake Stall Congratulations to the students of Year 6 for the organisation of this event last week. There were some very interesting costumes worn by staff and students and the funds raised will ensure that Year 6 2010 will leave a memorable gift to the school. The total amount raised on this occasion was $355.55. Stewart House Two Primary students from our school have been selected to attend Stewart House for two weeks. Stewart House is the charity supported by the Department of Education and Training because for more than 70 years. Students who will benefit from a holiday by the sea and a range of medical and health checks have been able to go to Stewart House because teachers and students make donations to ensure that

P &C News November 9th Coles Dockets If you have any more Coles Dockets at home then PLEASE send them along tomorrow morning so that they can be added to our final tally. Thank you for your support and a HUGE thank you to Amanda Platt for co-ordinating this fantastic project! It will be great for our school to have some new sports gear. Christmas Raffle The P & C will once again have a Raffle to be drawn at Presentation Night. Please send along any donations to the School Office/pass them on to committee members if that’s more convenient for you. As the theme is Christmas, some ideas for raffle items are Christmas decorations and Christmas food/beverages. If you prefer you can send along a donation and we can purchase a suitable item for you. Raffle tickets will be available at the Office within the next month and will also be on sale in the main street, in the near future. P & C Meeting Times/Venue Thank you to the small number of people who emailed me and to the one parent who sent back the survey slip, regarding P & C Meetings. At this stage meetings will continue to be held at Seplin Estate, at 5.30 pm, on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Next meeting will be tomorrow, November 10th. Please come along and have your say when we complete a submission for the Public Schools Funding Review. WWPS Backpacks If you are interested in purchasing a high quality Bottle Green schoolbag, complete with WWPS logo, from Harlequin then please let me know, either by email: [email protected] or 0429 953224, by Friday, November 19th at the latest. One zipper bag will cost around $40 and bags with 2 zippers approximately $45. We need to have 25 to put in an order. I have bought one of each type so please ask my daughters to show you their schoolbags, if you are at all interested. Prop Room The Prop Room has undergone a transformation! Thanks to Karen Middleton and Amanda Platt who gave up two full days to assist in this almighty project! Whilst we still have a little more washing to do, the majority of costumes can now be found in clearly labelled tubs, in the new Prop Room in our School Hall. Thank you also to Mrs Smith and the students who helped us in the transportation of tubs! The Staff and P & C committee members are currently in the process of working out the costumes for this year’s Presentation Night. We are trying to recycle as many costumes as we can. You will also be given plenty of notice if there is anything you need to send along from home.

    Thank you.

    Megan.
