WEEK 4

CELEBRATE OUR TEACHERS World Teachers Day is being celebrated across Australia this Friday.

Spare a thought for the teachers who inspired you to learn and made a

difference to your life when you were at school. And, please take a

moment to acknowledge the incredible team at JPS who work so hard

every day to make learning such a positive experience for your child.

Maybe this is the day to say ‘Thank you’.

Last week along with DET schools across NSW we received notification

of our 2016 Resource Allocation Model (RAM) funding. This has been

developed to ensure a fair, efficient and transparent allocation of the

education budget for every school.

The model recognises that students and school communities are not all

the same – they have different needs and require different levels of

support and gives schools greater flexibility to make financial decisions.

At JPS we are using it to provide more individual attention and support

for students and smaller class sizes in literacy and numeracy programs.

Between now and the end of the year there will be various planning

meetings to ensure we use our RAM funding to advantage in 2016.

Day for Daniel We celebrated Day for Daniel on Monday as part of our

Child Protection and Personal Development Day. The children raised

$68 for the Morecombe Foundation. Thank you.

The Song That Stops A Nation At 12:30pm on Thursday Jugiong Public School students will join with

over half a million school students, 2100 schools nationwide, to sing the

2015 “Music Count Us In” song “Gold” The children will be watching the

live streaming of the event and joining in with students across Australia

on the same day at the same time.

Sydney…Here We Come A final update for parents outlining our itinerary and what to pack was

sent home on Monday. This time next week we’ll be in ‘lockdown’ at

The Hyde Park Barracks after experiencing Taronga Zoo, being

archeologists and attending Matilda the Musical and Sculptures By The

Sea.

Grandparents Day ‘Moments did Matter’ last Friday when the children welcome their very special guests to the school. The

Primary children made sandwiches and K-2 made biscuits, which were thoroughly enjoyed. Parachute

games, T Ball and other tabloid activities encouraged many grandparents to ‘shake a leg’ and join in

much to the delight of the children. A visit to classrooms where students proudly showed their guests work

samples and explained how they learn in classrooms today.

Jugiong Public School has changed their Library interface from the ‘old’ Oasis system to the new

innovative, interactive Oliver System.

Oliver is a web based program to engage students, staff and the community with the school Library. The

children will use the Library interface called Orbit, where they can personalise their settings, track loans,

search the collection and get connected to reading and information which aligns to curriculum re-

sources. Students can use persuasive and emotive language to compose reviews that state their opin-

ions and reading preferences, and write book reviews which are posted later into the Library Orbit system

that can be read and shared by other students.

Mrs Weston has been involved in training days to change over, and learn all about Oliver.

Banks Public School has created a ClassMovie that features the school’s journey to Oliver and how it’s

being used by students on a variety of devices to post individual book reviews and create their own

reading lists. Click on this link to see their Oliver journey. http://www.classmoviestv.com/decnsw?

With Sympathy Words can’t wipe

away your tears

Hugs won’t ease

your pain

But hold on to your memories

Forever they’ll remain

Our small village is in a state of

morning, following the tragic

passing of 53-year-old Michael

Honner last Tuesday night.

Our sincerest sympathy to Jackie,

Jim and Alex, David & Colleen,

Maria, Jonathan, Thomasine and

Luke.

The thoughts and prayers of the

village are with you at this sad

time.

Family and friends are invited to

celebrate Michael's life at a

requiem mass to be held at the

St John the Evangelist Church,

Jugiong on Thursday (29 Oct)

commencing at 1:30pm.

(If you are fit please park in the

village or park & walk up to the

church. We are trying to save car

spaces for those that need it most.

Thankyou.)
