Grammar:

❑ In your large Shurley workbook review Jingles 1-6. Practice singing the jingles

each day.

❑ Complete the Shurley Grammar Worksheet (Classifying Sentences).

❑ Complete Grammar Capitalization pages 453 and 455.

❑ You will complete a Shurley Grammar Test in class next week. Review the

jingles and study the practice tests we completed in class today (page 98

of your Shurley workbook) to prepare for the test.

Writing:

❑ Using the Key Word Outline we completed in class today (page 21 in your

workbook), rewrite the paragraph in your own words.

❑ Use the checklist in your homework folder as a guide.

❑ You may write or type your paragraph.

❑ We will go over the paragraphs in class next week.

Spelling: Spelling Workout D and E (3rd and 4th Grade)

❑ Parents, please administer a practice spelling test to your child. Include the first

10 spelling words from the list, a dictation sentence, and the optional

challenge words. Place this in your child’s homework folder.

❑ Complete Lesson 4, pages 17-19 in your spelling workbook.

❑ Optional: Complete page 20 in your spelling workbook.

❑ Complete exercises 2C and 2D in your workbook.

❑ Study your vocabulary words and be prepared for a test next week.

❑ Parents, the assignment sheet last week stated that we would have a

vocabulary test next week. We have a spelling test as well as a grammar

test to complete the same week. I have decided that the vocabulary test

will be “open book”. Students may refer to their workbook for this test. This

should help reduce any stress that the students are feeling. Please help your

child study even though the book can be referenced during the test.

❑ Complete the literature worksheet (occupations). Place this in your

literature folder.

History: Story of the World

❑ Read Chapter 5a “South Against North”

❑ OPTIONAL: Narrate and Illustrate Chapter 5a in your History Narration

Journal. (History Narration is Optional this week for both 3rd and 4th grade)

❑ Read the handout “The Underground Railroad,” and complete the Venn

diagram.

3rd Grade:

❑ Complete the next 4 pages in your workbook. The pages cover letter i,

letter t, letter u, and letter w. My page numbers are pages 44-48. Some

students will have the same numbers, while others do not. Continue to go in

order in the book and double check that the letters correspond with the

above information. Please let me know if you have any questions.

❑ Place the completed pages in your homework folder.

4th Grade:

❑ Complete Lesson 4.

❑ Use any blank page from the back of the book to complete the Day Four

copy work.
