Uniform Changeover

The warm weather is coming but somewhat erratically. Please feel free to send your children in either summer or winter uniform before the end of term. I understand some children will still feel the cold but others will be champing at bit to get into their summer shorts. All students should be wearing their

summer uniforms from the commencement of Term 4.

P & C Meeting

The final P & C meeting for term two will take place tomorrow evening, in the library commencing at 7.30 pm. There has been some progress around the development proposal for Bungan Street. Come

along to the meeting to hear the latest information.

Keeping Me Safe Promotion

On 8th October 2011 the Police Band and Charlie the Penguin will be visiting Warringah Mall as part of the Police promotion “Keeping Me Safe”. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear the band and find out

information about keeping your children safe.

Disco

“Thank you” to the Meadows Family and Liz, Sally, Elaine, Nick, Danka, Chris and Linda, Amber, Marja,

Leanne, Stewart, Carlie, Jillian, Veronica and Claudia for their support of the Disco last Friday. It raised $1700

for the school band instrument fund.

Farewell

This will be my final Newsletter as Principal at Mona Vale Public School. Greg Jones the Principal at

Cromer Public School will be relieving as Principal until the position is filled early next year. I would

like to take this opportunity to thank the school community, staff and parents for their support during

my years at the school. It has been both a privilege and an honour to have served the students at

Mona Vale and other schools in the Public Education system for the past 33 years.

cheque and credit card payments (Visa and Mastercard only). Credit card payments are only accepted for

amounts over $15.00.

Payment for all events/performances and excursions should be received by the office at least a week

prior to the event. There is a reminder about up and coming dates in the newsletter for your convenience.

Paying promptly will ensure that we have the numbers finalised and adequate buses booked for the

children.

There are now silver boxes located in the Administration building foyer where you can post your

payments. Thank you to all those families who have paid their term 3 account. A reminder account was

sent out last week to all families for outstanding payments.

Administration is open from 8.30am – 3.15pm Monday to Friday.

PRIMARY ETHICS CLASSES at MVPS 2011

Dear Parent/Carer,

In the second half of 2011 a class on philosophical ethics will be offered at our school as an

option for students in Years 5 and 6 who do not attend Special Religious Education/Scripture.

St James Ethics Centre is the approved provider of classes in philosophical ethics. Primary

Ethics www.primaryethics.com.au., a new organisation established for this purpose, is

responsible for all aspects of the course delivery, including providing trained volunteers and

resources.

Primary Ethics will make philosophical ethics classes available for Years 5-6 at Mona Vale PS

from Term 3, 2011 and will progressively roll out the program across all primary schools in the

years thereafter.

The course will be taught and managed by volunteers.

Please note that students not attending either Special Religious Education or Philosophical

Ethics Classes will continue to be provided with supervised activities by a teacher.

If you would like your child to attend Primary Ethics Classes please complete the slip below

and return it to Mrs Hodgman as soon as possible.

Chess Club will resume in Week 1 of Term 4. If you would like to join the chess club in Term 4,

please pick up an enrolment form at the lesson or from the office. Fees are due in Week 3 of each

term, and are $55 for the first child, $35 for the second child, and $10 for the third child from the

same family. Fees are set at this level to cover the cost of our professional tutors.

Tuesday – Chess games in the chess room. Seniors and Juniors all welcome.

Wow, what a HUGE term!

A big Thank you to all of our band families for their great effort and support during this

busy term. We hope the kids have had fun and enjoyed their musical experiences. We

hope you all enjoy your well deserved break!

Good luck to Mrs Shaw with the birth of her baby! We are very excited for her and her

family, and we look forward to sharing some good news with you very soon.

Concert Band will be performing at the Honour Assembly on Wednesday September 21st

at 9.30am . Parents are warmly invited to attend.

Great News!

The Woolworths Earn and Learn program has been extended to the 18th October.

We‟ve collected over 13,000 points but we need to double that to reach our goal.

Keep collecting your receipts and bringing them into the office.

Thank you for supporting this worthwhile program which will enable us to

purchase valuable resources for the school.

Coles Sports for Schools

Mona Vale Public School has once again registered for the Coles Sports for Schools Program. From August 11 through to October 18th, we can collect vouchers by shopping at any Coles, Coles online, Pick n‟Pay or BI-LO supermarket. For every $10 spent, we earn 1 voucher 1 x Coles Sports for Schools voucher = 1 Point The points collected will enable us to purchase much needed sports equipment for schools in the Northern Territory. There will be a box in the office clearly marked for the vouchers to be placed into.

This is a day where families can meet together, learn and share information and experiences about how they cope with mental illness. This will be done in a supportive and caring environment with lots of fun activities.

Where: Community Health Building, Physiotherapy Room, Mona Vale Hospital, Coronation St Mona Vale.

When: Monday the 26thth of September 2011 (1st week of school holidays). 9.30am -3.00pm

Who: The Northern Beaches COPMI Clinician and staff from the Child and Family Counselling Team and Mental Health Team at Queenscliff Health Centre will coordinate this day.

It is for primary school age children and their parents and carers, including grandparents. Older and younger siblings may also be able to attend if appropriate (please discuss this with us first).

Cost: FREE – We will provide lunch and refreshments for the day.

What to bring: Please bring any food or drinks you may need if you have special dietary needs.

Sport and Recreation Kids‟ Camps are a great
