Writing Lesson 1

Watch ‘Postman Bear’ by Julia Donaldson. This wonderful story links nicely with our animal habitats topic as you catch a glimpse of where some animals live whilst the Postman Bear delivers the mail.

We are going to be writing a letter to someone we have not seen in a while telling about some things we have been doing.

Write your own letter to a friend or someone in your family you have not been able to see for a while – you could put it in an envelope and post it (everyone loves to get letters) or ask a grown up to send a photograph of your work to their phone or email address. Will you get a reply in the post or a phone call?

Maths 1)Number ordering – cut and stick the correct ladybird in order from 11-202) Minibeast hotels – count the number of minibeasts in each hotel and write it in the box next to it.3) Measuring caterpillar lengths – follow the instructions to order and compare the lengths of the caterpillars.4) Length challenge cards – which can you complete?

Topic The service that the Royal Mail provides is very important.It means that people all over Britain can communicate with friends and family and send parcels and packages all over the world. Create an information leaflet or poster all about the history of Royal Mail and our postal service. You could create a PowerPoint, poster, fact file, leaflet or a non-chronological report – or another way that you have chosen!
