GRADE : KG 2 WEEK: 3 rd April – 7 th April, 2016 Weekend Communique “Change is an inevitable part of growing up.” We fully understand that this transition phase from KG 1 to KG 2 can be a trying time as the children adapt to a new environment. To help them settle down easier, they have been working on a back-to-school booklet to bridge the changes that they will experience. This booklet covers their knowledge and will guide us towards setting goals for the new academic year. As you would have heard at the Parent Orientation, Coding is a subject that the little ones will be introduced to this year. Coding is an essential skill for children of the 21st century, and the curriculum is designed to develop the areas of problem-solving and critical thinking. Children will be exposed to the basic logic of programming and have an opportunity to experiment with creating their own code to solve problems and build creative programs. This experience will help introduce students to creative coding and provide them with foundational skills that they can build upon to become future web-creators and designers of innovative technologies. The students will work collaboratively with tablets and iPads and the devices will be maintained in school. We are very excited about this new addition to the curriculum and hope to share student-created programs with you, in the near future. Please note this reminder from STS - you need to inform the STS representatives at school in case of area/location change, minimum 2 days prior. This is for STS to ensure that your child arrives at the new address safe and sound. For this purpose, please route the requests through the STS representatives and not the drivers or conductors. Also, if you intend to collect your child early, a request for early dispersal must reach the school by 10.00am. We look forward to working with you for the benefit of your children, for it is only with your co-operation that we can provide the very best educational experience. Together, let’s pledge to work through challenges towards achievements that we can excitedly share in. This week provided the strong start that we were aiming at. Here’s looking forward to many more happy times ahead! A few reminders: Send the entire stationery kit. Ensure that the books are covered with the lamination roll provided. Send 6 current passport-sized photos, if not done so already. Ensure children are in full school uniform, and PE uniform on Swimming and PE days. Please send AED 50 towards cost of the Parent Orientation booklet, the School Diary and the Reading Programme. Check My Learning daily for updates and homework. Weekend Communique

“Change is an inevitable part of growing up.” We fully understand that this transition phase from KG 1 to KG 2 can be a trying time as the children adapt to a new environment.
