Our thanks to Carl Dowden who took notes for this week’s newsletter while our secretary was on vacation.

Our guest speakers were two of the three Red Hook High School sophomores (soon to be juniors) who attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards conference at the end of June. Syr Esposito, Katelin Zichittella and Colin Sullivan attended the conference. Colin was on vacation this week and unfortunately could not be with us

this morning. Syr and Katelin both said it was a great experience attending RYLA. Both girls mentioned that they did not get placed in the activity group of their choice which made them feel uneasy and out of their comfort zone. Katelin wanted to be in the engineering group, but was placed in the skit/comedy group. Syr wanted to be in the graduation planning group, but was placed in the chorus. They learned the importance of working together on a team or in a group. They learned members of the team or group have different personalities and play different roles, but every member is important to the team as a whole. Both felt it was a growth experience for them. Members we missed and hope to see next week: Karen Cadorette, Susan Ezrati, Rob Latimer, Susan Simon, and Hon. Jonah Triebwasser. Guests: RYLA students Syr Esposito and Katelin Zichittella and their mothers. Attendance with make-ups: 80%. President Bud reminds everyone that attendance is important. The club is no fun without YOU!

Books needed for the hospital. Rev. Fred Cartier is collecting books and magazines for Northern Dutchess Hospital's reading cart. Please bring your magazines and books to Fred at any breakfast meeting. Labels have been made to affix to the magazines indicating they have been donated by the Red Hook Rotary Club.

! Your change can make a change! - Bring your filled Rotary coin boxes to any meeting and donate to Rotary International Foundation's Polio Plus campaign. If you need a coin box, please see Bud Weaver.

Baxter's Bash - our annual picnic will be on Tuesday, August 30th at the Red Hook Recreation Park Pavilion at 6:00 p.m. Details to follow. (There will be no morning meeting that day.)
