and whatever I have ordered you to do, then do of it as much as you can”In light of this hadith, the daily reflections aim at presenting a good trait commanded by Allah and His prophet (PBUH), and the next day to present its opposite. This approach allows us to get a better understanding of these traits with the goal of implementing the prophet’s command of completely avoiding the forbidden while adhering to the commandments to the best of our ability.

 Objective:  To  understand  the  importance  and  merits  of  reciting  the  Qur’an    

• Reciting  and  pondering  over  the  Book  of  Allah ,)ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص(   devoting  your  time  regularly  to  its  study  and  implementation  has  innumerable  benefits  in  this  life  and  the  next.  [Qur’an  17:45]  

o The  Qur’an  will  be  a  proof  for  us  on  the  Day  of  Judgment.  The  Prophet )ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص(   said:  “And  the  Qur’an  is  a  proof  for  you  or  against  you.”  [Muslim].  

• The  Qur’an  will  intercede  for  us  on  the  Day  of  Judgment.  Aboo  Umaamah  relates  that  the  Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص   said:  “Read  the  Qur’an,  for  verily  it  will  come  on  the  Day  of  Standing  as  an  

intercessor  for  its  companions.”  [Muslim]  • There  is  an  amazing  amount  of  reward  in  reciting  from  the  Qur’an  or  even  trying.  [Qur’an  

73:4]  (recite  smoothly  and  in  a  measured  manner);  [Qur’an  73:20]  (recite  what  is  easy  for  you)  

o ‘Aa’ishah,  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  her,  relates  that  the  Prophet )ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص(   said:  “Verily  the  one  who  recites  the  Qur’an  beautifully,  smoothly,  and  precisely,  he  will  be  in  the  company  of  the  noble  and  obedient  angels.  And  as  for  the  one  who  recites  with  difficulty,  stammering  or  stumbling  through  its  verses,  then  he  will  have  TWICE  that  reward.”  [Al-­‐Bukhari  and  Muslim]  

1. Reading  the  Qur’an  helps  you  achieve  Mercy  and  will  lead  you  to  Paradise!  [Qur’an  7:204]    o The  Prophet )ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص(   said:  “The  Qur’an  is  an  intercessor,  something  given  permission  to  

intercede,  and  it  is  rightfully  believed  in.  Whoever  puts  it  in  front  of  him,  it  will  lead  him  to  Paradise;  whoever  puts  it  behind  him,  it  will  steer  him  to  the  Hellfire.”  [An  authentic  hadith  found  in  At-­‐Tabaraanee,  on  the  authority  of  ‘Abdullah  ibn  Mas’ood]
