Email Migration to Army Enterprise Email Your EUR email account will be migrated to the Army Enterprise Email service in the near future. Each user will get e-mail notice 24 hours prior to the account migration.

If you haven't already done so, please take the time to complete the three (3) pre-migration steps outlined within the Enterprise Email Pre-Migration User Responsibilities checklist. If you need assistance performing these actions, please contact your local Information Management Officer (IMO) or the Enterprise Service Desk at DSN 119 immediately.

Once your account has been migrated, and to ensure a successful transition, please complete the steps outlined in the Enterprise Email Post-Migration User Responsibilities checklist. Please make written notes of any errors received or problems encountered. This will assist technicians in resolving any issues.

The checklists, and accompanying videos, are available on the 119 Enterprise Email Portal. Additionally, the Pre-Migration checklist; Post-migration checklist are available on the accompanying links.

Change in uniform policy Currently effective: The ACU patrol cap is the primary headgear for all Soldiers as the duty uniform headgear.

Commanders retain the authority to prescribe the beret for special events such as parades or changes of command or responsibility. The black beret will be retained and worn with the dress uniforms. Soldiers who are authorized to wear the green, tan, or maroon beret will continue to do so in accordance with AR 670-1.Additionally, the directive addresses other changes to the wear of ACU items. AFN Europe Moving to New Satellite Now – 31 July: AFN’s satellite delivery platform is changing, requiring viewers who have an AFN

decoder and satellite dish in their home to make some changes to continue to get AFN TV. Since the process of setting up a dish and re-adjusting a decoder varies according to decoder model, location and other variables, the help desk and on-line materials are especially critical. AFN Europe has posted manuals and how-to-videos in English, German and Italian at www.afneurope.net. Click on the Eurobird 9A icon for the manuals and videos. For additional assistance, the AFN Help Desk is open Tuesday-Friday from 1 - 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. -8 p.m. (Central European Time). Viewers from Germany, Italy, Belgium, the UK and most

other European countries will be able to call in via a toll-free number, 00800-2362683662 (00800-afnantenna). Direct-to-home viewers will need to reconfigure their home decoder and realign their satellite dish from the current satellite Hotbird 6/9 at 13 degrees East, to the new satellite, Eurobird 9A (EB9A) at 9 degrees East. AFN apologizes for the inconvenience, but assures the move to the EB9A satellite positions will better serve the AFN audience in the future.

USAREUR Commanding General 4th of July message Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, commanding general of U.S. Army Europe, shares a message with the community:

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. On this day, we celebrate the birth of our nation by spending time with friends at cookouts, going to parades, and watching fireworks. But it’s also important to reflect on the significance of this day, when we declared Independence and stood up for the dignity and freedom of man. This is a day for us to relax, but it’s also a day to reflect on those brave Americans that helped shape our nation…it’s a day for us to reflect on how we

can best uphold the same ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that drove our founding fathers to sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776.

Benjamin Franklin, one of our most respected founding fathers, jokingly reminded his fellow Patriots during the signing of the Declaration of Independence, ―We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.‖ He was reminding them that they needed to stick together as a team, fight for what was right, and he wanted them to stay safe in the pursuit of their cause.

I’d ask all Soldiers, Civilians, and Family members to do the same…stick together as members of a team every day, fight for what is right when you have the opportunity, and always stay safe…especially on holidays! It’s your duty to keep an eye on one another and take care of those within our Army Family, and it requires personal courage to stand up and be loyal to one another.

Remind each other to ―buckle up‖ in the car or ―grab a cab‖; plan ahead so you don’t find yourself in an unwelcome situation; and don’t let your ego get the best of you. Patriots gave their lives in securing the freedoms we enjoy today–don’t waste yours unnecessarily.

Sue and I thank you and your Families for all you do in defense of our great nation. You represent the very best the U.S. has to offer.

Consolidation of Value Added Tax (VAT) Relief Services Effective immediately: The Directorate, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation announces the consolidation of

USAG Grafenwoehr Value Added Tax (VAT) Relief Services, currently available in both locations (Rose Barracks and Main Post) into a single full-service office on Main Post in Building 539. This move was made possible with the introduction of the Family and MWR website online ordering program. Customers no longer have to make multiple trips to the Tax Relief Office; after initial enrollment and verification of eligibility, Valued Added Tax (VAT) forms for purchases under Euro 2,500 can be ordered from the convenience of your home! Unfortunately, Utility Tax Avoidance Program (UTAP) enrollment and VAT forms for purchases greater than Euro 2,500 still require a trip in – but, we assure you it is worth! Child, Youth and School Services – CYSS The Edge! Program is providing youth a once in a lifetime opportunity to hike the

tallest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze! This hiking program, open to youth who will be entering high school in August, will begin with local hikes on Thursdays and Fridays and will culminate with a 2-day hike to the top of Germany on July 7-8. This is a feat that is certainly doable, but the training hikes in June are required to ensure youth are properly prepared.

Introducing a new program: Starting a Childcare Co-op A child care co-op, sometime called childcare exchange, is an increasingly popular option for budget-conscious parents with a large circle of friends. In a co-op, parents take turns watching each other’s children. One parent might watch another parent’s child on, for instance, Mondays or two half-days, while another might watch the first parent’s children on a weekend evening or perhaps on Thursdays. In some groups, parents take turns watching everyone else’s children as a group, while in others they watch one family’s children at a time. U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr will again host the annual Army 10-Miler qualifier, July 9, and the stakes are high. The top six U.S. Army men’s and women’s Soldier-runners who meet the qualifying times will be nominated to represent U.S. Army Europe at the Army 10-Miler in Washington, D.C., Oct. 9. Dental Assistant Training for spouses Now accepting applications: The Vilseck American Red Cross, in conjunction with the Vilseck DENTAC, is

offering free dental assistant training to military-sponsored identification card holders. American Red Cross Dental Assistant Training Program, for Rose Barracks DENTAC, will begin training on July 11. Trainees will be instructed in the computer skills necessary to manage a dental practice, dental radiology, dental anatomy, and sterilization of dental instruments. Watch out for large bonfires starting this weekend! Saint John Bonfires (Johannisfeuer) take place all over this weekend. Stop by and enjoy this traditional custom. Bonfires of Saint John are popular festivals, celebrated around 24 June (Saint John’s day) in many towns in Europe. For this festival, people gather together and create large bonfires from any kind of wood collected throughout the year and share great food and beverages. Sometimes teens and children jump over the fires when it already burned down. Bonfires are in almost every community in Bavaria. European Championship in "Bierfass-Rollen = Beer Keg Pushing" 15 - 17 July: in 92714 Pleystein, Marktplatz (ca. 25 km / 15 miles east of Weiden).

This competition of pushing a large empty beer keg is a traditional showdown by brewery staff. Work in breweries has always been very strenuous, which made power and perserverance two of the most important traits of maltsters and master brewers. Since 1930, the annual championship in Bierfass-Rollen (only GE but with gallery) was organized in

English Burton-upon-Trent. After it had paused for 50 years, the tradition was rekindled in August 1996 by the brewery in Chodovar (CZ). The rules in short (only GE): Two teams, each consisting of two people, have to run an obstacle course of ca. 400 meters, pushing with sticks an empty wooden keg in front of them. Each keg has a volume of 100 litres (~ 26.5 gallons) and weighs around 52 kg (~ 115 lbs). No participant must touch or push the keg with anything other than the stick.

Green Night 23 July: in 91522 Ansbach, historical city center. Similar to Nürnberg's Blue Night, Ansbach's Altstadt will be illuminated

- only in green light - and many performers and artists will entertain the public.

"Italian Summer" 24 July - 21 Aug: in 92339 Beilngries, city center / Hauptstraße = main road (ca. 45 km / 28 miles SW of Hohenfels).

During the "Italian Summer", the whole city of Beilngries honours the Italian life style: for example with numerous concerts with classical and modern Italian music, and specialties from the Italian cuisine and wine cellars. On 20 August, the whole Altstadt = old city will celebrate the "Grande Finale‖ with music, dance and theater performances.
