Maths The Maths tasks this week will all follow the same structure.

We would like you to watch a video clip from White Rose Maths (links provided on the slide for each day) before completing the accompanying task – you can print the sheets out or just write the answers in your workbook. The videos no longer contain a ‘Flashback 4’ so please complete these from the slides. The worksheets are also no longer available on the website so we will upload these to Dojo.

There is a mixed focus for the lessons this week which all recap things we have done before – area and fractions.

English – The Alchemist’s LetterThis week all of our English is going to be based on the short film clip, The Alchemist’s Letter https://www.literacyshed.com/the-alchemists-letter.html

An alchemist is a person who transforms or creates something through a seemingly magical process.

In this film a story is told about a machine that could turn any metal into gold. To power the device the alchemist fed it his own memories. He had a family but in his quest for gold he abandoned them.After the alchemist's death the son returns home to the house he once knew as a child he finds the device along with a letter from his father, as the letter is read the machine begins working…

• At the end of the film the alchemist tells his son that he has learnt what matters the most – LOVE. However, he realises this too late, he was consumed with his device and the idea of creating gold that his wife died alone and his son ran away. Only in his death does he realise the importance of family.
