1 IntroductionThis document provides an overview of the DELMIA Apriso Weighing & Dispensing module, which is used for managing and performing the weighing process on the production floor. It contains general information on the module's components – their functions, usage and configuration. References to documents with detailed instructions on specific components are provided where applicable.

Scope

The document focuses on a description of the following core areas:

Configuration elements of the moduleRuntime elements of the moduleAdvanced configurationDatabase tables and data model used in the moduleUpgrade from the previous SE solution.

Intended Audience

The intended audience of this document is personnel responsible for implementing and configuring the Weighing & Dispensing module. Users should have a good knowledge of DELMIA Apriso and its modules.


2 ConfigurationThis chapter describes the configuration elements of the Weighing & Dispensing module.

2.1 Machine IntegratorThe Weighing & Dispensing module uses Machine Integrator to monitor the scales of the production floor. For details on using Machine Integrator, refer to theMachine Integrator Implementation Guide.

The instructions below show how to add a new Machine Integrator Connector, Data Source, and Points to be used by the Weighing & Dispensing module:

Please note that the values provided are for demonstration purposes only, and are used for the sake of coherence with the latter configuration sections of this document.

1. Open the DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client and navigate to Machine Integrator Configuration M&M Screen.

2. Create a Connector and select the Data Sources tab.

3. Click Add and create a data source called Scale 01. The type of data source will be determined by the type of connection used by the actual scale. In our example, we use a virtual OPC Server application.

4. Select the Parameters tab, and configure the OPC Server – Set the Hostname for the OPC Server and the OPC Server Application name.

5. Right click on the new connector Scale01 in the tree view on the left, and select Add Point Group. The new group should be called PointGroup.

6. Create two points for new point group by clicking Add after selecting the Points tab in the point group. The two new points should be called NetWeight, and TareWeight.

7. Set the OPC Point Name in the Parameters tab of the newly created points. For point NetWeight the value should be set to Net, and for TareWeight – to Tare.

2.2 EquipmentThe Weighing & Dispensing module adopts the following equipment hierarchy:

Each Scale Station in the system may have a number of Scales assigned. Scales of the same type are linked to a single Scale Class.

Scales assigned to different Scale Stations may be linked to the same Scale Class.

A Scale may be assigned to only one Scale Station.

To configure any of the equipment types used in the Weighing & Dispensing module, open the DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client and navigate to Equipment Explorer M&M Screen.

2.2.1 Configuring Scale

In the Equipment Explorer M&M Screen, click (Add) to create a new equipment. The Equipment Editor screen will open, where you can configure the following mandatory fields:


1. In the General tab, specify values for: a. Equipment – Unique name of the Scale b. Equipment Type – Select Scale c. Equipment Class – Select Scale d. Active – Checked by default, when a new equipment is added

2. In the Details tab, specify values for: a. Warehouse Location – Scale must be linked to a location b. Maximum Logins – Set this value to 1, to ensure that only one user can work with the

Scale at a given time c. Scale Class – Scale must be linked to a Scale Class. You can add a new Scale Class at

this point if no Scale Classes are defined in the system. Click to open the Scale Class M&M Screen. For details, refer to 2.2.2 Configuring Scale Class.

d. Scale Connected – When checked, the weight will be acquired automatically

3. In the Features tab, link the Tare and Weight Machine Integrator Links defined for the scale.

2.2.2 Configuring Scale Class

Scale Class can be configured in the Scale Class M&M Screen. The screen may be accessed directly in the DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client, or from the Equipment Editor M&M Screen, when a Scale is added to the system.

In the Scale Class M&M Screen, click (Add) to create a new Scale Class. The Scale Class Editor screen will open where you can configure the following fields:

Name – Unique name of the Scale ClassShort/Medium/Extended Description – A localizable Scale Class descriptionUOM – Unit of measure used by the Scale ClassCapacity – Maximum weight that can be put on the scalePrecision – Precision of the scale in the unit of measure specified for the Scale Class. Decimal values may be usedTare Required – When checked, the scale will require taring, before the weighing beginsAutomatic – When checked, the scale operation is fully automated and the operator does not have to confirm weighing resultTolerance (-) – Negative weighing tolerance in the unit of measure specified for the Scale Class. Absolute value must be used


Tolerance (+) – Positive weighing tolerance in the unit of measure specified for the Scale Class. Absolute value must be usedMinimal Weight – Minimal weight required to perform weighingZero – When checked, the scale is set to zero after taring

Besides the negative and positive tolerances defined above, each Scale Class may have a more precise set of tolerances specified for certain weighing ranges.

Click (Add) in the embedded Scale Class Tolerances browser to create a new set of tolerances for a specified weighing range. The following fields may be configured:

From Weight – Start of the weighing range for which the tolerances are setTo Weight – End of the weighing range for which the tolerances are setUOM – Unit of measure. When new Scale Class Tolerance is created, the UOM value is populated with the value set for the parent Scale Class. The value may be changed by the user.Tolerance (-) – Negative weighing tolerance. Absolute value should be provided. The Tolerance (-) range cannot be lower than the From Weigh value.Tolerance (+) – Positive weighing tolerance. Absolute values should be provided. The


Tolerance (+) cannot be higher than the To Weigh value.

2.2.3 Configuring Scale Station

In the Equipment Explorer M&M Screen, click (Add) to create a new equipment. The Equipment Editor screen will open, where you can configure the following mandatory fields: 1. In the General tab, specify values for:

a. Equipment – Unique name of the Scale Station b. Equipment Type – Select Scale Station c. Active – Checked by default, when a new equipment is added

3. In the Assignments tab, Click Link to assign Scales to the Scale Station. The Assign Resource to Resource popup will open. a. Link the Resource Name field to a Scale b. Link the Resource Link Class to Resource Hierarchy

2.3 ProductTo ensure proper behavior of the Weighing & Dispensing module and correct conversion of units of measure, please remember to check the Fraction Allowed checkbox in the Product Maintenance M&M Screen, when configuring a product to be weighed.

2.4 System ParametersA number of settings in the Weighing & Dispensing module is inherited from the system-wide parameters. Below you will find information on the usage of select system parameters and additional configuration options available in the Weighing & Dispensing module.

2.4.1 Checklists

Checklists can be displayed in the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit before weighing is performed. A Checklist can also be configured where a specific value must be entered which is then compared to a predefined target (e.g., in the case of a Scales verification Maintenance Order). Follow these steps, to configure a Checklist to be displayed in the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit:

1. Create a Checkpoint: a. In the DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client, open the Checkpoints M&M Screen and click

Add to create a new Checkpoint. b. In the General Properties tab:

Specify the Code (Checkpoint name).Specify the description for the Checkpoint.

The Medium Description field contains the question the user has to answer (Figure 16 Checkpoint General Properties – a Yes/No question) or the target value to which a reading is compared in the case of a Scales verification scenario (Figure 17 Checkpoint General Properties – a Checkpoint with a target value).

c. In the Checkpoint Values tab:Add values for the Checkpoint (These are usually the answers to the Checkpoint question; in the case of a Scales verification scenario, this tab is left empty).

d. If necessary, repeat the above steps to add more Checkpoints. 2. Create a new Checklist or use an existing one:

a. In the DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client, open the Checklists M&M Screen and click (Add) to create a new Checklist.

If the Checklist is to be displayed before weighing can begin rather than during Scales verification, the predefined 'Weighing' Checklist must be used.

b. In the ChecklistGeneral Properties tab:Specify the ChecklistCode (Checklist name).Specify the description for the Checklist.

c. In the Checkpoint Links tab:Click (Add) to link the Checklist to the previously created Checkpoints.

d. In the Checklist Checkpoint Link popup, link one or more of the following parameters to determine Checklist display in the W&D Cockpit:

Facility – link to Facility of Scale Station or ScaleWork Center – link to Work Center of Scale Station or ScaleProduct – link to the Product weighed in the Weighing Group or LineResource – link to Scale Station or ScaleProduct Group – when linked, Checklist will be displayed if the same group is linked to the Weighing Group or Line in the Checklist Group field of their respective Properties screens in the Cockpit.

Checklists can be configured to include a variety of Checkpoints, such as yes/no questions, multiple-choice questions, as well as Checkpoints requiring the user to enter a specific value which is then compared to a predefined target. For more details on Checklist usage and configuration, refer to the Checklist section in the Process Builder Help.

2.4.2 Safety Instructions

Safety Instructions may be displayed in the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit while weighing is performed. Follow these steps, to configure safety instructions to be displayed in the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit:

1. Create Safety Instruction: a. In the DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client, open the Safety Instruction M&M Screen and

click Add to create a new Safety Instruction. b. In the General tab:

Specify the Reference NumberIn the Class field, link Safety Instruction to Safety Instruction Class (create one if necessary)Specify the description for the Safety Instruction (This is the text of the Safety Instruction that is displayed in the Cockpit)Select appropriate icon for the Safety Instruction (optional)

c. If necessary, repeat the above steps to add more Safety Instructions.

2. Create Safety Instruction Usage: a. In the DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client, open the Safety Instruction Usages M&M

Screen and click (Add) to create a new Safety Instruction Usage. b. In the General tab:

Specify the Safety Instruction (Link the instruction created in Step 1). c. Link one or more of the following parameters to determine Safety Instruction display in

the W&D Cockpit:Product – link to the Product weighed in the Weighing Group or LineGroup – when linked, Safety Instruction will be displayed if the same Product Group is linked to the Weighing Group or Line in the Safety Instructions Group field of their respective Properties screens in the Cockpit.Resource – link to Scale Station or ScaleFacility – link to Facility of Scale Station or ScaleDepartment – link to Department of Scale Station or Scale

2.4.3 Exposure Tracking

The Weighing & Dispensing module uses system parameters to track user exposure to hazardous materials. Exposure tracking can be enabled on a per Weighing Line basis.

There are two settings in the Weighing Line Properties screen of the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit, which are responsible for this functionality:

Exposure Tracking checkbox – When checked, user exposure will be tracked when the Weighing Line is weighed. Tracking starts when the user selects the Weighing Line and stops once it is completed, or when the user returns to the Weighing Groups or Weighing Lines browser.

Please note, that exposure will not be tracked, if the user exits the Cockpit during weighing, by pressing the Home button or when the web browser is closed.

HazMat Group field – Product Group may be linked here, to provide information on the actual hazardous material the user is exposed to.


The exposure tracking functionality uses FlexNet.BusinessFacade.WD.EmployeeHazMatManager Business Component and ReportEmployeeHazMatExposure Method. All tracking data is stored in the EMPLOYEE_HAZMAT_EXPOSURE table.

2.4.4 Maintenance Orders

The Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit provides support for performing Maintenance Orders relating to Scales. Scale Maintenance may be carried out by users with the ‘Production User’ or ‘Weighing & Dispensing Supervisor’ Roles.

Presented below is an example scenario in which a Maintenance Order is used to verify Scales:

1. In the Equipment Explorer, open the Scales you wish to verify. 2. Go to the Maintenance tab and click (Add) to create a new Maintenance Procedure. 3. In the Maintenance Procedure Editor:

a. In the General tab, choose the name for the procedure. b. Link the procedure with a predefined Checklist (for information on creating Checklists,

refer to 2.4.1 Checklists).

c. In the Action tab, check Create Order. d. Link the procedure to a specific Process.

e. Click Save and return to the Equipment Editor. 4. In the Maintenance tab of the Equipment Editor, click (Create Order). The order will be

created and listed in the Maintenance Orders grid at the bottom of the screen.

To verify your Maintenance Order configuration, proceed as follows:

1. Navigate to the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit and click Scales. 2. In the Select Scale pop-up window, click Maintenance next to the Scale you wish to verify.

3. In the Maintenance Orders screen, select the order created in the steps above. The associated Checkpoints will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

4. Select a Checkpoint and click Verify to begin the verification procedure.

5. Place the calibration weight on the scales and click OK. If the reading matches a specific target weight, the Checkpoint will be marked as checked.

6. Once all Checkpoints have been verified, click Complete next to the selected order. 7. In the Sign Maintenance Order Completion pop-up window, click OK to finish the

verification procedure.

2.5 Transaction HistoryThe entire weighing process carried out with the use of the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit is logged into TRANSACTION_HISTORY tables.

For details on viewing and editing weighing history in the cockpit, refer to the Weighing And Dispensing Cockpit Help.

2.6 Electronic Manufacturing RecordsAny action carried out in the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit is automatically logged into Electronic Manufacturing Records and may be viewed in the form of reports. A Record Header Definition is available for the Weighing & Dispensing module in the system, and no additional configuration is necessary in order to access EMR reports.

To modify the Record Header Definition, open DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client and navigate to the EMR Maintenance M&M Screen.

A Record Header is created for each Weighing Group, containing detailed information on the weighing process, supervisory actions, transaction history edits, etc.

To view the Records, open the DELMIA Apriso Desktop Client and navigate to the EMR Monitoring M&M Screen.

3 RuntimeThis chapter describes the runtime elements of the Weighing & Dispensing module, that is the Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit and Business Components that are executed by the cockpit or custom screens.

3.1 Business ComponentsThe Business Components that support Weighing & Dispensing are described in the Business Components Documentation under the Weighing and Dispensing category.

3.2 Weighing & Dispensing Cockpit

3.2.1 Access and Functionality

To open the cockpit after the installation, choose one of the following methods:

Access Rights

There is one pre-defined Role for the cockpit, and two Roles available in previous versions of the DELMIA Apriso solution, which have been granted access rights to the cockpit. Each of the three Roles used in the cockpit has a different level of access rights:

Weighing & Dispensing Supervisor – this Role gives you full administrative access to the cockpit, in particular it allows you to:

Generate Weighing GroupsGenerate Weighing LinesLink/Unlink Scale Stations to Weighing GroupsManually modify Weighing Groups and LinesCarry out scales maintenance

Please note that this Role does not allow you to perform the weighing process.

Production User – this Role allows you to:Perform the weighing processCarry out scales maintenance

Quality Manager – this Role is used to sign Weighing Line completion or scrap a container. User with this Role cannot access the cockpit, and their signature is optional.


In order to gain full access rights to the cockpit, the user must have both the Weighing & Dispensing Supervisor and Production User Roles assigned.

4 Advanced Configuration4.1 Extension PointsExtension Points are additional Operations in DELMIA Apriso Process Builder that allow users to extend the standard functionality of the cockpit. Generally, they are used in Standard Operations between the configuration and execution stages. See the diagram below.

By default, the Standard Operations used in extension points of the Weighing & Dispensing module are empty, and need to be customized by the party implementing the module.

4.2 Scale Gauge DisplayThe WDC.WeighingControl Standard Operation, responsible for the display of scale gauge in runtime, is embedded in the WDC.PerformAutomaticWeigh and WDC.ScaleMaintenance.AutomaticScaleVerification Standard Operations.

It is possible to configure several inputs in this Operation, to adjust scale gauge to the user preference. To adjust the gauge display, open the Standard Operations (each has to be configured separately) in Process Builder and open the Acquire Scale Weight Automatically step.

The following inputs in the Call_WAD_WeighingControl Sub Operation may be changed to customize the Scale Control gauge display:

ShowValuesInPercentWhen set to True, the values will be shown in percent, instead of the Scale’s UOM Code

PrecisionDetermines the number of decimal points to be displayed

YAxisAdjustmentDetermines the amount of space drawn above the maximum weighed value. When set to 0.1, the maximum value displayed in the Y axis is set to +10% Positive Tolerance. In effect, if the weighed product is overweighed, the user will be able to see the amount of weighed product beyond the maximum value set by the Scale Tolerance.

6 Appendix A: Upgrade From Weighing & Dispensing SE ModuleThe upgrade process from earlier Apriso versions, which had the Weighing & Dispensing SE module installed, requires additional manual steps to be performed in order to migrate certain data from database tables used in the W&D SE module into the new data model.

Please note that data migration from the old W&D SE module is only supported on MS SQL database.

6.1 Upgrade to DELMIA Apriso 2019Follow the standard upgrade path for DELMIA Apriso 2019, as discussed in the DELMIA Apriso Upgrade Guide. The scripts referred to in this chapter are located in the Materials folder accompanying the DELMIA Apriso Upgrade Guide

The DELMIA Apriso upgrade process introduces changes to the database model, which make it necessary to migrate data into the relevant tables and columns in the upgraded database, so that it can be used by the new Weighing & Dispensing module.

6.2 Changes in the Database ModelThe following database model has been used by the W&D SE module in previous versions (Custom tables added to the DELMIA Apriso database with W&D SE have been marked in red):

6.3 Manual Steps

6.3.1 Migrating MI Points

The following script has to be run manually, to delete Business Controls used in W&D SE module for scale indicator display, and to remove the retired M&M screens, which are no longer used by the new module.

6.3.3 Updating Extension Points

Standard Operations used in the new Weighing & Dispensing module have a WDC. prefix.

By default, the Standard Operations invoked in extension points are empty.

In order to migrate Standard Operations used by the old W&D SE module, which have a APR_WD_WEIGH. prefix, it is necessary to open each of them in Process Builder and manually copy their content into the corresponding operations used by the new module.

In case of APR_WD_WEIGH.AftCreateScaleStationScale and APR_WD_WEIGH.BefDeleteScaleStationScale Standard Operations used in the W&D SE module, it is necessary to replace the ResourceCollectionID external input with ResourceResourceLinkID external input.
