www.ramallah.ps “WEIN A RAMALLAH 3” (14-30/7/2011) Wein a Ramallah is more than an annual celebrative ritual of the city and deeper than a summer tradition. Wein a Ramallah is an occasion to engage in discourse about Ramallah through workshops and seminars, and through the artists’ dialogue about our city and its future. Wein a Ramallah is an occasion to meet outside traditional venues, in the city’s open horizons and spaces. Wein a Ramallah is the suggestion we propose to visit wider audiences and provoke deeper interests. Wein a Ramallah is a new and comprehensive model of partnership between the city’s organizations and people. “Wein a Ramallah 3” and its activities fall in five main categories: In the Courtyard, Ramallah’s Skylights, Ramallah and the Arab Spring, Conference: Ramallah and Cultural Development, and Ramallah International Work Camp 2011. IN THE COURTYARD: The geographic center of the city lies between Rashed Al- Hadadeen Square and the Ramallah Municipality. In the Courtyard, our program joins all the city’s residents regardless of their political, religious or social affiliations. Right in that space, bands will meet and perform for all ages and tastes, right from the heart of Palestine. Events: Wala’at Band - Akka National Orchestra for Arabic Music (Al-Kamandjati) - Ramallah Palestinian Popular Dance Festival RAMALLAH’S SKYLIGHTS: Our activities would come to you wherever you are…on your way home, in public parks, at work, in the Old City and in the heart of the beautiful city of Ramallah. Our activities, ranging from artistic to cultural, include workshops and art exhibitions in public spaces, music concerts, dance performances in addition to events programmed especially for children. This program manifests a conscious and dedicated choice to open up the city’s spaces to the largest number of the city’s residents and visitors. The conference will discuss comprise of the following sessions: Ramallah the Cultural Capital of Palestine? Working Towards an Increasingly Active Cultural Role for Local Government Institutions Legal and Financial Framework of Cultural Work Towards Building Wider Audiences for Cultural Programs RAMALLAH INTERNATIONAL WORK CAMP 2011 The Ramallah Municipality is pleased to announce the launch of the Ramallah International Work Camp 2011 (RIWC) which comes to revive and orchestrate voluntary work in the city of Ramallah. Expected to start on the 20th of July 2011 and end the 1 st of August 2011 with a Ramdan Iftar, the Ramallah International Work Camp fulfils our desire to promote the city of Ramallah through youth throughout the world and allow Palestinian youth a unique chance of cultural exposure and solidarity with Palestine. RIWC has received applicants of two categories: participants and volunteers. A participant is expected to abide by the full program of RIWC while volunteers are given the chance to partially participate in the camp .Through RIWC, the Ramallah Municipality offers a kaleidoscope of work opportunities that range from construction to community services that will specially target the most marginalized groups in the city of Ramallah. A special cultural and educational program is also organized for the participants in the camp. In an attempt to consolidate the spirit of cooperation with the city’s youth organizations, the Ramallah Municipality formed a steering committee commissioned to run RIWC: First Ramallah Group, Ramallah Islamic Club, Ramallah Orthodox Club, Ramallah Youth Club, Qadura Youth Club, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Birzeit University.
