PREFERENCE FOR STAGE II

• All students will be on My School Online while the district is
in Stage I
• A decision to transition to Stage II will be announced no later
than September 30th
• Surveys were completed by parents in July
• Changes to delivery model can be requested but it cannot be
guaranteed
• All requests will be considered at the end of the 1st grading
period (October 22nd)
• Changes in delivery models will result in a change in
teachers and student schedules
School Bell Schedule

ATTENDANCE & ANNOUNCEMENTS
• 8:35 a.m. – Student must be logged into the Live Session with the Homeroom Teacher
• Announcements will be broadcasted daily via Dadeschools TV
LUNCH
• Stage I 11:35 a.m-12:05 p.m. (PK, K, & 1st)
12:35 p.m.-1:05 p.m. (2nd-5th grade)
• Stage II Schoolhouse students will have staggered
lunch schedules to allow for social distancing.
SPECIAL AREA CLASSES (ART, MUSIC, PE)
• Kinder (PE only) 10:45 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
• First Grade (PE only) 11:05 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.
• Second Grade 11:35 a.m. – 12:35 p.m.
• Third Grade 1:05 p.m. - 2:05 p.m.
• Fourth Grade 2:05 p.m. - 3:05 p.m.
• Fifth Grade 10:35 a.m. - 11:35 a.m.
Spanish Class Schedules will vary by grade level
RECESS
• Recess will be provided daily via “Brain Break Sessions” based on individual teacher schedules. **TEACHERS WILL POST THEIR INDIVIDUAL CLASS SCHEDULES/DAILY ASSIGNMENTS IN THE K12 PLATFORM
Student Attendance

• Daily Student Attendance is MANDATORY
• Attendance will be taken during the student's first block at 8:35
a.m. and each live class session (not in the Portal).
• Students will be marked tardy if they are not logged into the
session on time.
• The teacher MUST see the student in attendance during the live
session to be considered present.
• Absences will be marked UNEXCUSED.
• Parents will have 5 days to submit an excuse note to the school
registrar at [email protected] or in-person by
appointment only
GETTING PREPARED
FOR DISTANCE LEARNING

• Immunizations are still required for all MDCPS enrolled students
• Students must wear a uniform polo to all sessions EVERY DAY.
(Friday shirts allowed on Fridays only)
• Cameras MUST be on during all sessions
• Refer to website for updated MSO Supply List
• Every child in the household will need a computer
(simultaneous live sessions will not allow for sharing of devices)
• No textbooks, all content is available online on K12 platform
• Students requesting devices have been placed on a wait list
(District is awaiting arrival of ordered devices)
Teaching and Learning Expectations

• Students will have daily direct instruction from teachers through K12
platform
• Length of teacher-led virtual lessons will vary daily and by subject
area
• Instructional blocks will remain consistent during Stage I & Stage II
• English Language Arts (Reading/Writing) – 120 minutes daily (K-5)
• Mathematics – 60 Minutes daily (K-5)
• Science – 120 minutes weekly (K-1), 150 mins weekly (2nd-5th)
• Social Studies – 120 minutes weekly (K-1), 150 mins weekly (2nd-5th)
• Music – 60 minutes weekly (only for grades 2-5th)
• Art – 60 minutes weekly (only for grades 2-5th)
• Physical Education – 150 minutes weekly
Teaching and Learning

The Code of Student Conduct has been revised to
include Digital Learning expectations. Students who fail
to comply with the rules/expectations of online learning
and the school will be subject to consequences as
outlined in the CSC.
A link to the new CSC will be sent to all parents via
School Messenger next week.
Exceptional Student Education

• Students who have an IEP, EP, or 504 will receive the services
and accommodations that have been agreed upon by the
Student Services Team.
• Consultation and collaboration will be provided by assigned
ESE Teachers per grade level
• Gifted services will be provided by the Gifted Endorsed
Classroom Teacher
• Related services such as speech/language, occupational
therapy, nursing services, and counseling will be provided via
teletherapy. Every effort will be made to schedule services to
avoid the interruption of
core classes.
FOOD AND NUTRITION

• Free or Reduced lunch benefits will be active until October
13, 2020. (Everyone must re-apply in order for services to
continue the remainder of the year.)
• During Stage I
• Meals will be distributed Tuesdays/Thursdays 4:00-6:00pm
• Tuesdays: 3 breakfast meals and 3 lunch meals per student
• Thursday: 2 breakfast meals and 2 lunch meals per
student
• Starting September 1st meals can be picked up by the west
gate of the driveway at NBB
• Picking up of meals will require student identification cards.
• Students not on Free/Reduced lunch will need to pay via
PayPams Online for any meals that are picked up
