Recently, there have been as many as 80 job postings for process operators and power engineers, so there is great opportunity in Wood Buffalo for this occupation.

Power EngineerThere are two levels of power engineers in Fort McMurray: field operators and control room operators.

“Primarily when someone is starting out, they’re in the field,” “After a few years they can progress to being a board or control room operator - kind of like the team lead.

They direct the field people to perform tasks beyond the control of the DCS - turning valves, adjusting an instrument to control temperature, pressure, flow, or level.”
