News You Can UseDon’t let the scale dictate your happiness! Are you tired of the number on your scale dictating how you feel about yourself? Does your weight stop you from doing things you previously loved, or make you feel less confident?

Losing weight is a personal decision, but one that can have an amazingly positive impact on your health, your energy, and your confidence level. Find a reason to change your lifestyle that’s about more than how you look in the mirror. Set personal goals like being there and keeping up with your kids or grandchildren, running your first 5K, or even having the energy to further your career or personal hobby.

Write down why you want to make a change and then post that “why” every place you are during your day so that you’re constantly reminded that losing weight isn’t about giving things up – it’s about making gains in the quality of your life.

Check your numbersCarrying extra weight increases the risk for health concerns.

It also impacts your self-esteem and confidence and can dampen your desire to participate in activities you enjoy. Don’t wait for your weight to lead to health issues. There are three numbers you can assess to determine if you need to lose weight: your BMI, your waist measurement, and the risk factors associated with your family health history.

BMI calculatorBody Mass Index (BMI) is a very common way to assess whether your current weight is problematic and should be reduced. People with a large percentage of muscle mass may get a skewed result, and this method could also underestimate body fat in adults over the age of 65. Find your height and weight. Your BMI is reflected in the column above your weight.

Green = Healthy Weight Orange = Overweight Red = Obese

If your BMI falls in the Overweight or Obese category, that’s a good sign you need to start thinking seriously about overcoming your weight challenges.

Measure your middleStoring excess fat in your waist, as opposed to your hips or thighs, poses a greater risk to your health.

Measure your waist circumference with a tape measure. Over 35 inches for women or over 40 inches for men is a sign to take control.

Health historyLooking at your family health history can provide a clue as to whether or not you should be concerned about your weight. Does your family health history include weight-related conditions?

If you have health concerns or know family members that have struggled with health issues, definitely consider making changes to reach and maintain a healthy weight.

Product FocusChoose a lasting lifestyle changeThe NUTRILITE® Weight Management Program approach to losing weight is designed to encourage lasting lifestyle changes. You won’t find a crash diet or extreme exercise tips from us. We don’t encourage quick fixes that will help you lose weight initially and then most likely gain it all back once you stop severely limiting calories or exercising strenuously for hours on end.

Our approach takes your lifestyle into consideration. When you think about losing weight, you want to lose it for good, right? Nobody wants to “find” the weight they’ve lost again after they go back to old habits.

This is why the NUTRILITE Weight Management Program teaches you new habits – habits that you can incorporate and live with the rest of your life.

HealthPlan meals to match weight-loss goalsWeight-loss success will hinge a lot on how well you plan your daily meals. With the NUTRILITE® Weight Management Program we offer two different approaches to eating, depending on your goals.

If you want a fast, simple way to start controlling portions, the NUTRILITE Weight Management Program Switch2Slim Plan is a great place to start.

On this plan, you’ll swap two meals every day for either a NUTRILITE Meal Bar or NUTRILITE Meal Replacement Shake. Both provide your body with vitamins and minerals, while helping you control calories. Just make sure to snack

on fresh fruits and vegetables and eat one sensibly prepared meal daily to round out this eating plan. NUTRILITE SLIMMETRY® Dietary Supplement complements this plan by enhancing fat and weight loss.

Personalized planIf you want to completely change your lifestyle, the NUTRILITE Weight Management Program Personalized Plans take your unique genetics into account by offering three different options for eating: Carb Reducer, Fat Trimmer, or Better Balancer.

All three feature an easy-to-follow eating plan, complete with daily menus and recipes. If you don’t like something on that day’s menu, you’ll learn how to swap it for something you do like using established dietary exchanges.

Learning about exchanges and portion control while following the meal plan will help you understand the types and amounts of foods you should be eating on a daily basis to manage your weight – lessons you can carry forward for a lifetime of good health.

To find out which plan works best for you, take the Inherent Health® Weight Management Genetic Test. After taking the test, confidential recommendations based on your personal genotypes including a customized CLIA-lab test report and booklet are delivered directly to your home. These results will help you decide the weight management plan that will help you attain your weight-loss goals.

FitnessDon’t let time be an excuse! One of the biggest reasons people cite for failing to exercise regularly is a lack of time. The NUTRILITE® Weight Management Program Personalized Plan eliminates that problem by offering a simple and effective 10-minute approach to exercise.

The 4-3-2-1 Body Training System focuses on fast fitness with minutes a day devoted to cardio, resistance training, core, and stretching exercises. As your body gets stronger, you can tailor your workout routine to incorporate more than one 4-3-2-1 session, building up time as you go, or relying on quick workouts spread throughout your busy day to achieve your goals.

You’ll get a starter 4-3-2-1 Body Training System in the workout section of the journal that is included when you order the Carb Reducer Plan (11-2808), Fat Trimmer Plan (11-2807), or Better Balancer Plan (11-2809).

If you want an extended look at how the 4-3-2-1 Body Training System works, order The 10-Minute Total Body Breakthrough by Sean Foy, which is available through Amway Partner Store – Barnes & Noble.

If you decide to go with the Switch2Slim (11-2810) Plan, we recommend that you start your fitness journey by committing to walking at least 30 minutes every day. Keep yourself motivated by purchasing a pedometer so that you can track your steps – aim for 10,000 per day as a healthy goal. As you get stronger, add resistance moves and core training exercises such as those found in the 4-3-2-1 Body Training System.

Ask the ExpertQ: What is a good strategy for eating healthy at holiday parties?

The holidays can be tough for anyone trying to maintain their weight, but you can strike a balance between maintaining a healthy diet and joining in with the fun and festivities.

1. Exercise: Take this opportunity to develop a regular exercise routine. You can also do little things like parking farther away from the mall, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and walking during your lunch.

2. Review your cooking methods: Try to make changes to those family favorite recipes by grilling instead of frying, using low calorie ingredient options, steaming veggies instead of adding heavy sauces, and trying new spices as a way to add flavor.

3. Eat regularly: Don’t change your daily eating habits just because of a party night. Now more than ever, plan a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack options to eat during the day. This will keep you full of healthy nutrition and help give you willpower to avoid overindulging at night … and regretting it the next day.

4. Prepare for outings: Some big events last all day, so just plan ahead and make sure you make healthy food and exercise choices leading up to the outing and be prepared to get back at it right after.

5. Balance your meals out: It is tempting to fill your plate with all that calorie-laden food. But you must remember – calories in … calories out to maintain your weight. Think, how many miles on the treadmill for that chocolate éclair. You do the math and you’ll probably think twice!

6. Be wary of sugary foods: Those sugary treats sound good, and boy do they look good, but they just aren’t good for you.

7. Stock up on healthy snacks: Be prepared to fight temptation by having your favorite veggies and fruit in your home, at your work, and with you during your travels.

8. Moderate alcohol intake: Alcohol contains calories and lots of them. Control the amount of alcohol you consume over the holiday period, and opt for the healthier choices whenever possible.

9. Be assertive: You’ve made a healthy holiday eating plan, so don’t feel bad about sticking to it. If you are not hungry, politely say so.

10. Leave what you don’t want: This is simple. Don’t be tempted to take more than you’ll eat, and when you feel full, stop eating!

Your secret weapon this year is NUTRILITE® Carb Blocker 2. You can block up to 500 calories per meal and help to tip the scale in your favor

Q: When should I recommit when I’ve fallen off the healthy eating wagon? Sean Foy, M.A., author of The 10-Minute Total Body Breakthrough

Each day try the following three tasks to help you “win the day”:

1) Recommit. In the morning, ask, “What do I want to change today?” and “How can I move closer to my goals?”

2) Relate. Remember to share your highs and lows with someone else today.

3) Reflect. Before you go to bed, ask yourself, “What did I do well today?”

As you develop the habit of following these three steps, you’ll begin to “win the day” more often. Over time, these daily victories will add up to a body and a life you have always dreamed of!

You know that eating fruits and vegetables is good for you, but do you really understand why? Each plant has unique and specific nutrients called antioxidants that support different areas of your body. For example, carrots contain large amounts of beta-carotene, which supports vision health, while red grapes contain resveratrol, which is good for your heart. By choosing NUTRILITE® supplements, made with plant concentrates, you get plant-based nutrition the way nature intended.

Next MonthIt is time to put together a “stay healthy” strategy for your family. Take steps now to help build up a healthy immune system by eating whole foods rich in nutrients, controlling your stress level, and taking the right supplements to fill in the nutritional gaps you’re missing in your diet alone. Make an effort every day to keep the germs, colds, and viruses away that get you down so you can’t enjoy a full, active lifestyle.
