Who is Mrs. Martin?

• A Teacher-I have taught 3 years of high school science and this will be my 16th year

of teaching here

•A Girl Scout-I have been a girl scout for 26 years, I have worked at the local Girl Scout camp and I have run a troop. This has resulted in me knowing and singing a lot of really silly songs.

•A goofy nerd who will make you do silly things in the name of learning.

Textbooks

• Your book needs a book cover by Monday. This is worth 5 points and is an assignment

This assignment can be completed even if you do not have a book cover. Ask me before your class begins on Monday and I will give you one.

The comics page from the Sunday paper can make a great book cover. I can show you how to put on a paper book cover if you come in after your bus arrives and before class.

Assignment notebooks

• Your (not your friends) assignment notebook is your hall pass.

• I will not allow you out of my room without it and I will check your passes in the halls if I see you.

• Assignment notebooks need to have…Your name on every page and the

current date. It also needs to be intact.

Help! I was absent.

• If you e-mail me during school hours I will e-mail your homework back to you. (If I can)

• See me upon your return to double check what was assigned.

• You have 2 school days (for first absent day only 1 for additional days) to hand in work.

• Fill out an ABSENT tag and staple it to your work. • Put your work in the “in box”• There is no penalty for absent work if you turn it in

within the time frame given.

Help! I was careless.• Before the first test I will take late work at no penalty.

• After the first test late work will get the same value as “do over” work 75% of what you earned.

• You will turn in EVERY assignment ( eventually) or you will be spending time with me as I assist you.

If you were absent and forgot about an assignment ( or never found out about it) and more than 3 days have passed your work will be treated as late work unless you missed more than 2 days in a row. If this is the case you need to see me.

Mrs.Martin lost my homework!• I will put the names of students with missing work on the board. Occasionally

you will see work labeled as missing that you “KNOW” that you handed in.

• 1.Check the clips on the board for no name or do over work. (90% of the time this is the problem) put your name on it or do it over and hand it in.

• Ask to check my files for your work.( occasionally papers stick together or have not been checked yet)

• Check your folder- I cannot count the number of students who accused me of losing their work only to find it in their own folder.

• I do not take work out of this room. If its not here you will have to do it over.
