Character corner

Kindness is one of our six smart character choices that we are highlighting through various folk and fairy tale read alouds!

Kindness means thinking and acting in ways that show you care.

To highlight the character choice of kindness, we read the stories Little Red Hen and The Ugly Duckling. In Little Red Hen,we learned a valuable lesson in helping others. One very important way that people act in ways to show they care is by helping!

In The Ugly Duckling, the ugly duckling also received unkind treatment from other birds that were around. Everyone was so surprised at the end of the story when the ugly duckling grew up into not a duckling, but a beautiful swan. The lesson learned is that we should not judge or treat others based on looks, for we are all beautiful on the inside. We enjoyed making connections to ways that we can show kindness each day, at home and at school.

Have a conversation with your child about what kindness means to them! See if you can connect kindness to any of the stories you read with your child at home

Fairy Tale:We are having a blast retelling favorite fairy tales and folktales! Recently I brought out a game for the students to learn to create their own stories. They have enjoyed this game so much and many have expressed wishing they could play it at home with their families! I highly recommend this for your family game collection! Music Class:

The Spots are having so much fun singing, dancing, and playing piano for their peers. Students may bring in instruments from home! Send me an e-mail if you’d like me to make provisions to keep their instrument safe during the day (not stored in their cubby). I can also have Ms. Lambert meet you at drop off to carry it in!

This month we are working on:

Dress for the Weather:

As the temperature fluctuates, please keep an eye out for the weather reports daily. We go outside for our recess at 10:00 a.m. which is still a cooler time of the day than later currently. Most of the student have been very content in boots and sweater or light jacket.

We typically go outside even on a rainy day, so long as it is not actively raining, so please send your child to school with the appropriate footwear and outerwear for those upcoming drizzly days!

Ms. Lambert Meet th

e Assistan

tHello!

I am delighted to be joining the CSA team as the teaching assistant in the Spotted classroom. I am committed to ensuring the successful completion

of Term 3 together!

I have always had a passion for working with young children (especially those in preschool &

kindergarten) and will provide a safe and enriching place for your child to grow, develop

and achieve great things!

Since graduating from Michigan State University in 2009 with a degree in Child Development, I

have nannied for numerous families and served as the lead infant teacher at a Montessori daycare in downtown Farmington. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life and recently relocated to the Brighton area from my hometown of Livonia. In my free time, I enjoy taking my family dog Addison on

long walks, traveling, reading, attending concerts and tuning in to Wheel of Fortune where I

challenge myself to solve the puzzles before the contestants can.

I am already so impressed by how naturally curious your children are and am honored to be part of a learning community here at CSA that

provides such high quality, developmentally appropriate care. I believe that kindergarten is such a fun and exciting time to learn, organize information, solve problems and get along with others. Don’t blink - this academic year will be done before we know it but until then, I look forward to getting to know you better in the

coming months!
