Positive Assertive Discipline Plan-“Positive Assertive” means that the children are given the opportunity to correct mistakes, and a teacher an opportunity to praise child for making that correction.-Actions that stop the teacher from teaching, and the learners from learning (including self) in a manner that is conducive to achieving 5th grade academic/behavioral goals will have consequences.-Reminders, warnings, redirections will be given to child prior to intervention.-Reminders, warnings, redirection include:

-verbal-visual (body movement, name on board)-sitting at “Refocus” desk-writing a reflection-staying in from recess to complete work

-3 Strikes, You’re out!-Depending on severity of misbehaved actions, teacher may give multiple subtle warnings prior to

actually writing child’s name on board as an official warning.-Once an official warning is given by writing the child’s name on the board, it will be considered

STRIKE 1.-If child ever gets 3 strikes, they will receive a T.C.N. (intervention)

T.C.N.-Teacher Communication Notice-Purpose: To communicate to parents that teacher used positive assertive discipline plan, but child was unable to allow teacher to teach, and learners to learn in an appropriate manner, even after multiple warnings, reminders, or redirections.

Please know and understand...

-That the Positive Assertive Discipline Plan has been implemented by the school so that everyone can have a fair chance, at learning in a conducive/safe environment.

-Teachers must remain consistent in consequences or rewards, so that all students know what to expect and what goals to set, to become self-directed learners that can work independently and with others.

-That teachers care, understand, and feel, regardless if it is a TCN or a reward, it is a teaching and guiding tool that will help each student, ultimately reach success.
