Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Peace be with you! As you may probably already know, Arizona will soon lift its “Stay at Home” Mandate on May 15th and slowly open businesses again. In anticipation of this, the Diocese has already started a three phase plan to get all parishes to have public Masses again. As a Preparation phase before implementing the three phase plan of the Diocese, Bishop Olmsted has approved that from now on parishes may invite the faith-ful to come to the parish church to receive Holy Communion right after their live-stream Mass. There-fore, with great joy, I am announcing that starting Sunday (May 10) after the 11:00 AM English livestream Mass, Holy Communion will be offered at the parish church from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM for those who wish to come to the church and receive Holy Communion. Please keep in mind that the elderly and those who feel that they are at risk should stay home. When you are in Church please keep in mind to practice so-cial distancing and good hygiene by washing hands. We encourage you also to wear a mask. I would also highly encourage you to continue the practice of receiving Holy Communion with your hands. Recently, scientific research has made us aware that the COVID-19 virus is present in high concentrations in saliva. With the distribution of Holy Communion on the tongue, it places the faithful, vulnerable people and ministers at risk if they come into contact with saliva. Even though weeks have gone by without receiv-ing Holy Communion, I know that for you and I, the Eucharist is truly the source and summit of our Christian life. It’s a great blessing to be able to receive Our Lord physically into our hearts once more. I pray that throughout this period of time, your hearts have grown with deeper yearning and hunger for God and the things of God. Another great news…our new ambo and set of pre-sider’s chairs will be arriving this week and will be installed. They will, indeed, complement the altar and the tabernacle piece. I am deeply grateful once again for the generous parishioner who out of his own initiative generously donated exclusive-ly for this project. I will communicate in great detail further im-portant indications as our parish community pre-pare to implement diocesan guidelines for the first phase of reopening public Masses. Until then, please be assured of my continued prayers. Sincerely yours in Christ, Msgr. Peter Bui

Until the time when we can worship together in church, continue to join us for

During this time of uncertainty, we are blessed with a wonderful parish community that is coming together to support each other during these difficult times. We are working hard to stay connected with our parish family through the parish website, parish-wide emails, printed material, phone calls, and our FACEBOOK (www.facebook.com/HolySpiritTempe) page which includes LIVE STREAM Sunday Masses at 11:00 a.m. and Daily Masses at 8:00 a.m. If you have not been receiving the parish-wide emails, please reach out to parish office with your email address to ensure receiving future par-ish notifications. Our parish depends on the Sunday plate collection, e-giving tithing, and contributions mailed to the par-ish office, which allow us to meet our parish expenses each week. With the suspension of our Masses, your financial gifts of loose cash, checks, and offertory envelopes, received through the weekly collection are now not received each week. Setting up weekly, or monthly, e-giving tithing through FAITH DIRECT is an easy and secure way to ensure that your financial gift is received. Through FAITH DIRECT, you are always able to make changes to your financial gift as needed. If you need assistance with FAITH DIRECT e-giving, please do not hesitate to contact the parish office, (480) 838-7474.

When we are able to return to the public celebration of Mass at Holy Spirit parish, we will have in place temporary protocols and considerations to ensure the safe celebration of Mass during each

phase of the church reopening. These directives and guidelines will be in addition to the self-protection and hand-washing pro-tocols you already observe in your home environment. Our Mass attendance will be limited and social distancing of a minimum of 6 feet between individuals not living in the same household will be observed. As soon as information is received, reopening phase details and guidelines will be communicated via the parish-wide

email and parish website. Throughout this difficult time, we thank you for your continued prayers, financial support, and patience. We welcome the day when we can worship together again and minis-ter to our parish community.

Until further notice, Bishop Olmsted has dispensed the faithful of the Diocese of Phoenix from the obliga-tion of attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days (canons 1246 and 1247). When you are unable to receive Communion you can make an Act of Spiritual Communion.
