  • TransportationThe Helsinki Metropolitan Area has a very efficient public transport system. There are four forms of public transportation: buses, trains, trams and the underground. Information about public transport, including ticket prices and schedules, are at Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) web pages. http://www.hsl.fi/en

    The online “Journey Planner” will help you to find the fastest route between two addresses at a given time. Click the link and just fill in the departure and arrival address and the expected time of arrival, and the Planner will give you several suggestions (bus, tram, underground or train) with exact timetables and maps. http://www.reittiopas.fi/en/

    Getting To and From the Airport

    Helsinki International Airport is located in Vantaa, 30 min from the city center. Finnair buses run every 20 min from the airport to Elielinaukio at the central railway station in Helsinki. Ticket cost EUR 6.30. The slower local bus (no.615, 620) cost EUR 5.00 and it stops at the square beside the railway station, Rautatientori. Alternatively, you can take a taxi to the hotel, Airport Taxi (Tel. 0100 4800) and Yellow Line Airport Taxi (Tel. 0600 555 555), it will cost around EUR 40-50. The central taxi reservation number in Es-poo is 0100 7300 and in Helsinki 0100 0700.

    Getting to the Laurea SID campus

    Laurea’s SID campus is located in the second largest city in Finland, Espoo, in Leppävaara district. Leppävaara can easily be reached by train from Helsinki city centre and by bus from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport (no. 540). Use following Laurea address for the “Jour-ney Planner” - Vanha maantie 9, 02650 Espoo. The commuter trains Y, E, U, S, L, and A go directly from Helsinki Central Railway Station to Lepävaara. The Leppävaara train station is approximately 300m from Laurea SID campus. The travel time by train from Helsinki centre to Leppävaara is approx. 10-15 minutes. For travelling between Leppävaara and Helsinki you need to buy regional ticket (seutulippu) for EUR 5.00. Tickets are sold at ticket machines or in the train by a conductor who usually travels in the rear carriages.

  • Site visit

    Site visit to Kontoret in Kamppi

    On Thursday 13.2. at 13.30-16.00 (Presenting Finnish FM industry) everyone is welcome to attend thesite visit by Kontoret, who provide the space and tools for efficient meetings, working and co-working.

  • Get Together party All participants are invited to attend Get together party in Restaurant Sunn* on Wednesday 12th at 19:00 hosted by Finnish Facility Management Association. We hope that you will enjoy Finnish cuisine that is a mixture of Eastern and Western flavors and traditions, influenced as well by its Nordic location.

  • Side EventsFinland is particularly beautiful during the winter time. It provides uniquely beautiful views that combine snow, ice, sky and sea. Finns are true nature and outdoors sports lovers and though the Finnish winter lasts almost half a year, Finns have thought plenty of activities to fill the time. We will make sure that you experience one of them.

    The first EuroFM network’s cross-country skiing championship

    On Wednesday 12th at 14.15-17.00 will be organized the first EuroFM network´s cross-country skiing championship in Leppävaara Sports park in Espoo next to the Laurea SID campus. Cross-country skiing is a part of Finnish culture. Learning it is fairly easy and it is suitable for everybody.

    The competition will be arranged as a relay (4 skiers/team). Each EuroFM Network Group can have their own team and register to Olga Guscina ([email protected]) by providing team members’ names, height and shoe size. The skiing equipment will be arranged for you. Dress warmly and enjoy it.

    Another substantial part of the Finnish culture is sauna. On five million inhabitants there are over two million saunas in Finland. After cross-country skiing championship all members are invited to warm up in Laurea’s SID campus saunas. There are separate male and female saunas. Laurea will take care of towels for you.

  • Explore Helsinki city

    English is the most commonly used language for international communications. Finland is offi-cially bilingual country, with 6% of the population speaking Swedish. However, a number of Finns also speak German and French. The Finnish language is reputed to be quite difficult. However, Finns will be pleased if you can master even just a couple of words. Have a go and make someone smile.

    Helsinki is younger and smaller than most of the other European capitals, however, it is very ver-satile city and offers something to see, do and experience in every area, for everyone. Helsinki is a charming mix of styles, a blend of modernity and the old world. The city boasts of wide avenues, clean roads and historical buildings. Helsinki Central railway and bus stations are in walking dis-tance from most important sights and the main shopping areas and department stores.
