Glasses for Haiti

In two months 300 pairs of reading glasses have been distributed through the

Village of Hope and have changed the lives of the recipients. We will continue

to collect reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses to be sent to the

Village of Hope in Haiti. We have a shipment going in early

September. Please continue to donate and thank you for your support.

Call Committee Update

The Call Committee has sent the Ministry Site Profile to Connie Schmucker at

the Bishop’s Office. She will upload and post this document, which is a 14

page document detailing our church, its mission, its ministries, and the qualities

we hope for in Lead Pastor candidates. Pastors in search of lead pastor

positions have uploaded their Rostered Ministry Profile (RMP). The MSP and

the RMP will be used to match candidates to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.

In addition, we have determined our interview process, and we have created

interview questions. We trust that the Holy Spirit will guide us to the very best

candidate as we continue with this process. Please join us in praying for the

candidate who is being prepared by the Holy Spirit right to lead our church.

If you have questions about the process or have a candidate to suggest, please

contact Steve Jerauld at [email protected].

Sunday Adult Discussion: In this week’s edition of Headlines and Him we

are discussing how more choose cremation, not burial, when making end-of

-life decisions. Benjamin Franklin wrote in a 1789 letter that "in this world

nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." But the way

people mark passage from this life varies over time and place. Join us in

Learning Center room 208 at 9:30 for a biblically based discussion.

Adult Bible Study Class: We meet Sundays at 9:30 AM in room 203 of

the Learning Center. We are currently learning about the Old and New

Testament through the book of Hebrews.

A Note From Sunday School Co-Superintendents

We wish to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of the Pastors, Church Council members, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church Congregation, parents, teachers, substitutes, helpers and the HSLC staff. We truly appreciate your prayers, love and support during the past 8 1/2 years which we have served as CoSuperintendents of the HSLC Sunday School. We have enjoyed our time with all of the Sunday School students, and we pray God will continue to bless each and every one as they grow in faith, love and service in the church here on earth.

The 2018 sign up is available for the Altar Flowers and Eternal Light. Your

Sunday Adult Discussion Group/Adult Bible Study

Sunday Adult Discussion: In this week’s edition of Headlines and Him we

are discussing how more choose cremation, not burial, when making end-of

-life decisions. Benjamin Franklin wrote in a 1789 letter that "in this world

nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." But the way

people mark passage from this life varies over time and place. Join us

Sunday in Learning Center room 208 at 9:30 for a biblically based

discussion.

We truly appreciate your prayers, love and support during the past 8 1/2 years which we have served as Co-Superintendents of the HSLC Sunday School. We have enjoyed our time with all of the Sunday School students, and we pray God will continue to bless each and every one as they grow in faith, love and service in the church here on earth.
