Welcome to Longlevens Rugby Football Club
Welcome to all that are involved with Longlevens RFC.
Last season we witnessed a tremendous amount of progress at the club. My personal
highlight was when we put out four senior teams on one Saturday. This is an incredible
achievement as getting people playing rugby is a huge challenge for clubs across the
country so it was fantastic that we were able to buck the trend. Now we have to make this
a regular occurrence, so make sure you check out the fixtures list on page 7 and get the
dates in the diary!
Mixed Ability Rugby has been an important
addition to the club. It has pulled in resources
from Longlevens RFC, Wooden Spoon, The
Milestone School, Chamwell Centre and the
Gloucester Rugby Community Team to make it
all happen and now we are starting to see the
benefits. More members, new faces at committee,
and renewed enthusiasm about the game has been
great to see. If you don’t know MAR is an
ingenious combination of touch and contact for a
competitive game of 15 a side. If retirement or
injury has prevented your participation – think
again.
The Junior section continues to grow. We are seeing great results with junior players
playing professional and representative rugby. My greatest joy is also seeing former junior
players now stepping up and playing in the senior teams. This is truly special for the club.
Looking forward I am excited about the future with big plans in mind for the rugby, club,
and facilities. We are in the early stages of pulling together an ambitious growth plan for
the club but it takes good people to make it happen. If you have skills in the following
areas, we would love to hear from you:
- Project management - Event Management
- Business Development - Catering
- Volunteer recruitment - Financial Accounts
Finally, we need to stop Longlevens RFC being the best kept secret in the community. So
please like, share, and retweet our social media feed to drive more people through the
door.
Up the Griffins!
