Welcome to MASTER Math

Introduction

This is an individualized course.

• Students will be working at different paces and in different units.

• Your instructor – answer questions – review tests and quizzes – give support – and assistance.

Participation

• Expect to spend several hours every week working on the material.

• Procrastination is the enemy! • Stay on or ahead of the schedule that you

have received. • Not meeting the minimum deadlines can

result in you being withdrawn from the course.

Course Structure: 10 Units

UNIT 1 ASSIGNMENTS PreTest

• Take the Unit 1 PreTest. If you pass, move on to your next Unit PreTest. If you do not pass, work through Modules A, B, and C below. Module A, Sections 2.1-2.6

• View the Module 1A PowerPoint AND/OR Module 1A Textbook AND/OR Module 1A Videos AND complete the Module A Notes. Remember to turn in the notes for credit before you take the Quiz.

• Do the Module 1A Homework. Once you have 90% or better, take the Module A Quiz. • Take the Module 1A Quiz. Once you pass, move on to Module B. • If you do not pass after your first attempt at the Quiz, you will need to do the Module 1A Review to 100% before you can take the Quiz for a second time. • If you do not pass after your second attempt at the Quiz, you will need to do the Study Plan for the Module 1A Quiz to 100% before you can take the Quiz for a

third time. Module B, Sections 2.7, 3.1-3.3

• View the Module 1B PowerPoint AND/OR Module 1B Textbook AND/OR Module 1BVideos AND complete the Module B Notes. Remember to turn in the notes for credit before you take the Quiz.

• Do the Module 1B Homework. Once you have 90% or better, take the Module B Quiz. • Take the Module 1B Quiz. Once you pass, move on to Module C. • If you do not pass after your first attempt at the Quiz, you will need to do the Module 1B Review to 100% before you can take the Quiz for a second time. • If you do not pass after your second attempt at the Quiz, you will need to do the Study Plan for the Module 1B Quiz to 100% before you can take the Quiz for a

third time. Module C, Sections 3.4-3.7

• View the Module 1C PowerPoint AND/OR Module 1C Textbook AND/OR Module 1C Videos AND complete the Module C Notes. Remember to turn in the notes for credit before you take the Quiz.

• Do the Module 1C Homework. Once you have 90% or better, take the Module C Quiz. • Take the Module 1C Quiz. Once you pass, move on to the PostTest. • If you do not pass after your first attempt at the Quiz, you will need to do the Module 1C Review to 100% before you can take the Quiz for a second time. • If you do not pass after your second attempt at the Quiz, you will need to do the Study Plan for the Module 1C Quiz to 100% before you can take the Quiz for a

third time. PostTest

• Take the Unit 1 Practice Test. (Optional) • Take the Unit 1 PostTest. Once you pass, move on to your next Unit PreTest. • If you do not pass after your second attempt at the PostTest, you will need to do the Unit 1 Practice Test and pass and do the Unit 1 Review Homework to 100%

before you can take the PostTest for a third time.

Grades for MTT 4 • S (Satisfactory):

an overall average of at least 75% complete at least 4 units

• R (Re-enroll):

complete two or three units and have an overall average of at least 75%

• U (Unsatisfactory):

not meeting the criteria for a S or a R

NOTE: A grade of U or R may affect your Financial Aid.

Different Exit Points The number of units you must complete to enroll in

your credit class depends on the credit math class you will take.

Academic Honesty Violations of the Academic Honesty Policies are not tolerated. Anyone violating the Academic Honesty policies will receive a U in the course. Consider this your warning.

Additional information

• Students with questions about their score on a quiz or test should review it with their instructor.

• Quizzes have around 12 questions and can be taken anywhere.

• Tests have around 25 questions and must be taken at a campus testing center or approved proctor location. Proctor U is not a proctoring option in this course.

• Students need to allow at least 1 ½ hours before the testing center closes to take a test.

Additional information • PreTests can only be taken one time. • Other quizzes and tests can be taken multiple times, but an

additional assignment is required to take any quiz a second or third time or test a third time.

• Before attempting a quiz for a second time, students must complete the Module Review with a score of 100%.

• Before attempting a quiz for a third time, students must complete the study plan assignment for the quiz with a score of 100%.

• Before taking a test for a third time, students must pass the Practice Test and pass the Unit Review Homework with a score of 100%.

• A student must talk to his/her Instructor to get permission to take any quiz or test for the fourth (or higher) time. 12

Read the entire syllabus • New to MASTER Math

– You must receive 100% on the syllabus quiz before you can begin to work on the class.

– You must complete the introductory assignments. – You will need to purchase an Access Code within 2 weeks.

• Returning to MASTER Math – You must receive 100% on the syllabus quiz before you can

begin to work on the class. – You will need to purchase an Access Code within 2 weeks if

you have not taken an MTT or BSK course since Spring 2015.

– If you took an MTT or BSK course in Spring 2015 or later, the code you purchased for that course will work.

• Make sure you understand all the policies and other information described on your syllabus.

Start the syllabus quiz. You must get 100% before you can move on to any other assignments.

This week you should: • Review your syllabus carefully. Read all of it. • Complete the Introductory Assignments in order. You

must score 100% on the Syllabus Quiz before starting the rest of the assignments.

• Watch the Introduction to MyMathLab video. It will answer many questions about working in MyMathLab.

• Sign in to Blackboard Collaborate during one of the times an instructor will be on-line.

• Complete the PreTest for your starting unit. • Put all handouts in your notebook. • Begin tracking your progress on the Checklist.
