POSADAAll are welcome to a Posada, this Sunday, December 15. The Posada will commemorate the journey that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus. FROM THE PRIEST:Fr. VinceWe see John the Baptist again in this weekend's scriptures. But why did Jesus praise John the Baptist (as the greatest person born) while saying those who enter God's kingdom will be greater than John?

John is the last of the prophets and fulfilled the real job of the prophets – to finger point to Jesus Christ, the Messiah! He prepares the way for Jesus and pointed others to Him at the River Jordan!

John saw what Jesus would achieve through His death on the cross – redemption from sin and death and becoming sons and daughters of God! When John was being silenced by King Herod, John sent his disciples to Jesus and wanted them to see firsthand what Jesus was doing to bring the Kingdom of God to those who want His message.

Jesus was the key for John, that the miracles and healings Jesus performed was the fulfillment of the prophecies by Isaiah some 700 years before! Jesus' miracles showed the power of God's kingdom in action amid His people.

In the end, John the Baptist sacrificed his life for speaking God's word and preparing the way for Jesus Christ as our Savior! May we know the joy that Jesus gives to everyone who puts their trust in Him (like John the Baptist) and may He increase our faith and hope in our everyday lives!

Pero, ¿por qué Jesús alabó a Juan el Bautista (como la persona más grande nacida) al decir que aquellos que entren al reino de Dios serán más grandes que Juan?¡Juan es el último de los profetas y cumplió el verdadero trabajo de los profetas: señalar con el dedo a Jesucristo, el Mesías! ¡Él prepara el camino para Jesús y le señaló a otros en el río Jordán!¡Juan vio lo que Jesús lograría a través de su muerte en la redención cruzada del pecado y la muerte y convertirse en hijos e hijas de Dios! Cuando John estaba siendo silenciado por el rey Herodes, John envió a sus discípulos a Jesús y quería que vieran de primera mano lo que Jesús estaba haciendo para llevar el Reino de Dios a aquellos que desean su mensaje.¡Jesús fue la clave para Juan de que los milagros y las curaciones que Jesús realizó fue el cumplimiento de las profecías de Isaías unos 700 años antes! • The Center-South Deanery is focusing on sharing resources and ideas across the deanery. A quarterly newsletter will be published this week to spread information

• Promise on Parsons – A committee meeting will be held to emphasize the delegation of duties among committee members.

• Grants were written for maintenance/capital improvement projects at both churches.

• The Stewardship discussions were productive; it was suggested that we continue to share stewardship topics in the bulletin.

• It was agreed that we find a security consultant to evaluate security and safety issues and needs during Mass times.

• The October Budget vs. Actual reports will be emailed to committee members. Members are to review and email the bookkeeper with any questions or concerns.

FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY/FIESTA DE LA EPIFANÍAThe Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program at St. Ladislas is celebrating its 20th year of religious formation for our parishes. In celebration of this occasion, all our parishioners are invited to join us on Sunday, January 5, 2020, the Feast of the Epiphany, following the 11:00 Mass. There will be a special blessing of the atria, followed by an open house and a parish international potluck in Huber Hall. Please bring a side dish or dessert that reflects your family’s cultural identity. Sign-up sheets are available in the back of both parishes. We invite you to take a tag and purchase the item listed on it. Donated items can be placed under the trees and will be given to JOIN to help those most in need in our neighborhoods.
