ST. AGNES MISSION STATEMENT
We, the people of St. Agnes, are called by God as a Catholic Christian community to be prayerful, compassionate servants to all God’s people.
We celebrate the spiritual life of Christ among us through a Christian life-style which includes scripture, sacraments, and lifelong Christian formation.
We proclaim and share His good news in a loving and caring way. We hope to accomplish this mission, and so we commit our lives, gifts and resources.

Called to Compassion
What does a homeless person need? That may seem like an odd question since being homeless would indicate they certainly need a home. Beyond that though, what does a homeless person need? Most would guess the per-son needs food, money, clothing, medical care, and toiletries. Many parishes put together drives for those items. Is that all the person needs? It is easy to get caught up in all the things that easily come to mind so that we miss a key thing needed by someone homeless as well as all human beings: to be seen.
How many of us pass by homeless people and pretend they are not even there. We don’t have money in our pocket, we don’t have food to give, and we don’t have material items that they need, so we offer them nothing. We don’t even offer ourselves.
Welcoming someone with a kind word is free. Amazingly, we act like it costs us more than anything else. It is easier to hand someone $5 than it is to engage in a 15-second exchange of words. We talk about being generous, but we need to remember that sometimes the greatest gift we have to give is simply ourselves. The Jesus in me meets the Jesus in you. One day, you or I may find ourselves in a tough spot, and we will be looking for compassion. Let’s hope that all those who profess to know Jesus don’t simply pass on by pretending not to see us.

Sacrament of the Sick
October 12 & 13 The Sacrament of the Sick is the Church’s prayer for heal-ing, continuing the concern which our Lord Himself showed for the bodily and spiritual welfare of the sick. It is the Church’s desire that this Sacrament be received by anyone suffering from serious sickness or weakening condition because of age.
Therefore, anyone described here has the right to receive the Sacrament of the Sick: Anyone who is under a doctor’s care for any serious rea-
son;
 Those suffering from terminal illness or those preparing
for a serious surgery;
 Any elderly person who feels the need for the strengthen-
ing and healing effects of the Sacrament.
Here at St. Agnes we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick at all the Liturgies on October 12 & 13. We would ask anyone who plans on receiving the Sacrament to stop in the lobby and fill out a name tag and then sit as close to an aisle as possible.

The Seasons of Life
If you live in the northern part of our country, you see the signs all around. Leaves turn from green to yellow to orange or red, then fall and fade to brown. Birds slowly disappear for the south. Grass withers underfoot. “To everything there is a season,” we read in Ecclesias-tes. The natural world speaks spiritual truths, if only we have ears to hear. God invites each and every one of us into the seasonal progression of our own conversion. No matter who we are, each of us has something in our life that is ready to turn. Is it an area where we’re wea-ry? A good habit we’ve been putting off? A familial reconciliation that needs to happen? As the world pass-es from one season to another, where is God inviting you to turn toward Him?

MASS INTENTIONS
There are multiple openings in the year for Mass inten-tions on weekdays only. If you would like to have a Mass said for a living or deceased person, or a special intention, please call the Parish Office.
Keepin’ the Faith at St. Camillus
St. Camillus is in need for volunteers to help with trans-porting (pushing wheelchairs) our assisted living resi-dents to Mass and from Mass on Sundays at Guardian Angel and Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel (located on Campus). As you can imagine, many of our residents have an extremely strong faith, but are unable to transport themselves to Mass. We are excited to say that we have such great attendance to the services, that our Staff needs help!! The residents would greatly ap-preciate the assistance of being escorted to Mass and also having someone to sit next to during the Mass! Both of these Masses are at 10:30am, so commitment would be from 10am until 12pm on Sundays.
Wine Tasting
Save the date! Our annual "Wine Tasting around the World" will be held on Saturday,
November 2nd at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $20 per person (must be 21 or over) and includes tasting many delicious wines as well as a light supper. Ticket sales begin the first weekend in October after all Masses, or watch the Friday flier and bulletin for more details on how to purchase tick-ets.
