Inputting your course choicesBSc Mathematics and / with Economics

First year courses:

The degree regulations require you to take the following courses

Economics A/B (EC100/2)

Mathematical Methods (MA100)

Elementary Statistical Theory (ST102)

Introduction to Abstract Mathematics (MA103)

LSE 100 (Lent term)

Even though you have no choice, you need to enter these on LSEforYou.

Economics A / B

You can take Economics B if you have done A-level Economics or anequivalent course.

Contact the Economics Department(Sarah Burton, S.L.Burton@lse.ac.uk)if you think you might have sufficient background.

Both Economics A and Economics B will prepare you for the advancedEconomics courses:

Your course choices will not be affected!

A standard course at LSE hasTwo hours of lectures each week

Large groups (up to 900 students)Presentation of theoryStart in week 1 (next week)MA100 and MA103 both have an extra hour of ‘examples session’

One or two hours of classes each weekSmall groups (up to 15-30 students)Discussion of specific material / room for interactionCompulsory: attendance records keptStart in week 2Permission to sit an exam may be withdrawn if you regularly missclasses / do not hand in homework

Short exams in Lent Term week 0 for MA100, EC100/2 and ST102
