Shelley RennickVice-Chair, Special Events Committee I grew up in Prince George just blocks away from the local Golf and Curling club.  In the early years I watched my parents curl but did not take up the sport myself until later in life as a recreational curler for a few years – just one of our great winter city sports.  I am excited about renewing the connections with all those old friends.

Although I have a long history of volunteering, both from a recreational as well as a community

development perspective (Prince George Outdoor Ice Oval, Regional District Volunteer Fire Department, David Douglas Botanical Garden Society   and many others) I recently retired from UNBC where I was the Director of Facilities Management and Capital Planning and look forward to getting even more involved in the organization of some of the fantastic regional, provincial and world events coming to our great city.

As always, a number of enthusiastic Prince George volunteers have already registered to help put on what is going to be a very exciting World Event.   I look forward to working with you and seeing everyone in March.

Sylvie St. Pierre Director, Banquets & Rallies Bonjour, my name is Sylvie. I have worked as a French Immersion teacher for 32 years in PG. I have volunteered in a few organizations such as the 2015 Winter Games, the World Para Nordic Skiing Championships, the Junior Hockey Nationals, and the many events of the French  Canadian Association. I like the logistics of planning big events and meeting inspired other volunteers. I hope that the World Women's Curling will bring new enthusiasm for the game to PG!

Michelle DybleDirector, Ceremonies

Hi, my name is Michelle Dyble. I have volunteered in various capacities over the years with many different organizations. This has included the 2007 Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, the 2010 Para Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George and most

recently the 2019 Para Nordic Skiing Championships in Prince George. I am excited to be a part of the

Special Events Committee!

Marian Tamkin, Director, Game Day I have been a volunteer all my life in charitable, sport and community development organizations. I love contributing to worthy organizations in my community, and now that I am a retired College instructor, I have more time to do that. I am excited to be involved in some of the planning for this World Class event. Game Day is all about making the event spectacular for the spectators and I’m looking forward to this being one of the best championship experiences for everyone who attends.

We’re looking for more great volunteers! If your family & friends want in, ask them to

register now!

Kyla RushtonMarketing Coordinator

Hi! My name is Kyla Rushton. I grew up in Prince George, but haven’t lived here in over ten years. I’ve taken on the role of Marketing Coordinator for the 2020 WWCC and am super excited to be back in my hometown until the end of March. In my past I’ve worked a lot of events for non-profit organizations; my roles have always been jack-

of-all-trades, and I thrive within this kind of environment. I look forward to marketing this event at a local level and to

work closely with our amazing volunteers to make this event as successful as it can possibly be!

Terry Morris

Event ManagerI love doing the World Events because you meet people from all over the world and Canada. I have been with Curling Canada for 14 years as Manager of Event Financial Services and an Event Manager since 2010. I have a history and passion for the sport and before working for Curling Canada have championed many events in Edmonton. I volunteered on the Executive committee for 1987 Brier Vice Chair Facilities, 1999 Brier Chairman and 2005 Brier Chairman. I was the Event Manager for the 2018 Women’s World Championships in North Bay that set the existing attendance record. I hope to better the attendance record set in North Bay with this event in Prince George. I look forward to working with all volunteers.

Past Community Events

Our community marketing team was once again out and about promoting the 2020 World Women’s Curling Championships throughout Prince George. We can’t name them all but below we’ve named a few:

BCNE - August 15 through 19

Our amazing volunteers were set up at the BCNE in August. If you visited the fair, you likely saw the street curling set up in KIN 1. This was a family fun event that gave Prince George it’s first taste of street curling!

CONGRATULATIONS to our draw winners! Marlene Jones, Tara Chiasson, Anne Chrisp and Isaac Slavic

FOODIE FRIDAYS - Every Friday in September

Rain or shine our volunteers would be set up at Foodie Fridays in Canada Games Plaza. This exciting weekly event features food trucks from around the city. What better time to try out floor curling than after a yummy meal?

CONGRATULATIONS to our draw winner! Krista Radway

COUGARS HOME OPENER - September 20

CONGRATULATIONS to our draw winner! Dean Craven

We had volunteers fighting over being at this community event! Who wouldn’t want to attend the Cougars home opener? We had table top curling set up - the three Cougars fans to the right couldn’t get enough of it!
