Background:• Project originated as a request from the Village to add sidewalk to the corridor
and upgrade the deficient lighting system
Relevant Dates/Information:• Design Start Date: November 2019• Letting Date: July 2021• Construction Start: November 2021• Construction End: June 2022• Cost of Construction: $2.6 Millions (including cost difference for decorative lighting)
Project Scope:• Sidewalk improvement project• New lighting system to replace current one• Incidental drainage system due to new sidewalk• Upgrade crosswalks and pedestrian signalization features at NE 113 Street• Landscape modifications within the FDOT Right of Way

Project Issues and ConcernsProviding a safe sidewalk The sidewalk must be as far away as possible from the road.Maintaining decorative driveways The new sidewalk will connect to existing decorative driveways.Right-of-Way (ROW) encroachments that impede on pedestrian safety
The project team will address (ROW) encroachments with property owners.
License Agreements for sidewalk harmonization
The team will coordinate with residents for required signature.
Maintenance of Traffic During construction, nighttime work will be avoided and at least one travel lane will remain open at each direction. Access to properties will remain. Temporary driveway impacts due to drainage installation will be coordinated with property owners.
Locally Funded Agreement (LFA) FDOT to enter in an LFA with the Village to cover the cost difference, $400,000, of decorative lighting. Otherwise, conventional lighting will be provided and fully covered by FDOT.
In order to include the decorative lighting as part of the project, the LFA must be obtained by November 2020.
