There was a time when the liberal movements snubbed all traditions and devotions in the Catholic Church. Many good faithful believers were confused as to what to believe and what not to, on their faith journey. Church published the Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly enumerating all the teachings, prayers, and practices that are accepted and taught by the church for every member and for those who want to learn about and become an active member of the church. Since the publication of this book there is no anxiety or ambiguity on matters of faith and doctrines in the church. There is an original Catechism text and there are several handbooks where those teachings are summarized for easy access and understanding. Once we take few minutes to familiarize with the book, the Catechism of the Catholic Church is very easy to use.

The materials in the book are organized to “allow a better knowledge of the Christian mystery and for enlivening the faith of the people of God. The text has four parts, (1) The Creed, (2) the Sacred Liturgy with the Sacraments, (3) the Christian way of life with the ten commandments, and (4) the Christian Prayer. All these flow from one to the other at the same time they are interwoven as well in the believer’s life. The book provides the wonderful unity of the mystery of God, His saving will, as well as the central place of Jesus Christ , the only begotten Son of God, sent by the Father, made man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit to be our Savior. Having died and Risen, Christ is always present in His church, especially in the sacraments. He is the source of our faith, the model of Christian conduct, and the Teacher of our prayer. This book is a reference to all the Catholic Doctrines. It helps us to deepen our knowledge of the unfathomable riches of salvation.

As a reference book on the teachings of the Church, this book helps us to free ourselves form the false narratives of the social media and the liberal world regarding matters of faith and Catholic conduct. It gives us a clarity on right and wrong and helps us to form our conscious according to the teachings of the Lord through His Church. We can help our children to use this as a guide regarding our life and life styles, and protect them from being misled by the propaganda media and antichristian ideologies out in the world.

God bless you all.

From the Pastor’s Desk / Del Escritorio del Padre

vaqueros, jinetes, soldados y revolucionarios.

decorando hogares, restaurantes e iglesias.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION There’s a different pace to a summer Sunday, especially on those days when we dream of air conditioning and wave any available paper to stir the air. Yet we persist in gathering, even with so many breaks from the usual routines. We distance ourselves not only from routines, but from schedules and familiar well-worn paths. These are playful days and contemplative days. We see long-lost friends and visit almost-forgotten places. We have more leisure than any people before in the history of the world, and we need it because our lives are so care-worn and tiring. More of us walk barefoot and look up at the stars or dip our toes in the lake or sea, sing around campfires, read novels on the beach, and eat comfort food with our fingers. We see how beautiful life can be, and are more aware than usual of how God is always breaking in with signs of love.

In Genesis today, Abraham and Sarah practice hospitality to their visitors, who turn out to be God dropping in. During the summer months, God practices hospitality in return, inviting us into a season of celebration. Keeping Sunday holy is a good habit to cultivate in these days when our spirits are especially receptive to God’s deep desire for us to know divine love.—James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

A MINDSET OF SERVICE

There’s a lot of traveling, delivering, and visiting going on in our readings today. In Genesis Abraham cares for the needs of three mysterious travelers. The psalm responds, celebrating the kind of righteousness that Abraham practices. Then, in his letter to the Colossians, Saint Paul describes his own ministry as almost like a delivery service: he, God’s steward, brings the word of God to their community. Finally, Luke’s Gospel shares the well-known story of Mary and Martha, and the different ways they welcome Jesus into their home. Amid all this coming and going, we are invited to pay attention to the ways we tend to the needs of others. Each of us can ask, How am I present to God and others in my life? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

casa a Jesús.

podemos preguntar, ¿cómo presento mi vida a Dios

y a otros? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
