Christ Community Church Building on the Word

Welcome to Worship at Christ Community Church January 13, 2019

This morning we continue a series of message on the epistle of James:

“Faith That Works.” We return to last week’s theme, persevering

through trials.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers,

whenever you face trials of many kinds.” (James 1:2)

Moments for meditation

We Praise our God Call to worship and songs of praise

Intercession Pray where you are or with a pastor or elder up front

Pastoral prayer

Worship through giving

Welcome, opportunities, and witness stand

We Hear the Word of God James 1:1-18 (page 897)

Children, meet “Patch the Pirate”

Song of preparation

Sermon: “Persevering Through Trials”

Benediction and postlude

“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has

stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to

those who love him.” (James 1:12)

Sermon Crumbs James has been likened to the Old Testament book of Proverbs. One reason is that, like Proverbs, it offers us “godliness in work clothes.” James doesn’t talk much about our Sunday-go-to-meeting life; it deals with everyday issues like money, self-control, and planning for the future. So a fitting title for this series is “Faith That Works.”

Help! I’m the Parent of a Teen Ken and Jennifer Langley will lead a discussion of Paul Tripp’s book, Age of Opportunity in the new year. Buy the book and join them for several evenings of discussion. For more information

New to CCC? Or maybe you’ve been around for a while and want to learn more about our church. Let me invite you to our InRoads class. This is the starting point for discovering more about our mission, how to get involved, and what membership looks like. It’s also a great place to get connected with others. Join us for 3 weeks starting Sunday, February 3rd at 9:00am in the Parlor. Email Pastor Drew to sign up ([email protected]). Passion Play 2020 in Oberammergau, Germany There will be an informational meeting about a tour to Oberammergau, Germany to attend Passion Play 2020 on January 27 right after the worship service. Meeting will be in the Fellowship Hall Minibooks CCC staff encourages you to check out these helpful booklets in the Book Nook of the Lobby. You’ll find biblical answers to a myriad of problems. Cost is only $3 for one and $5 for two and due to the sensitive/private nature of some of the books there is a self-pay box available.

Sacrificial Offering The total from the December 30 Sacrificial Offering is $59,218.49. Thank you for your generous help in spreading the Gospel to all the nations.

Teaching English in Taiwan May 22 - June 2 SEND International is sponsoring a trip to Taiwan this Spring to teach English at National United University.
