Principal’s Report
SASS Appreciation Week
This week we say a big thank you to our school
administrative & support staff (SASS). We are extremely
fortunate to have a terrific team who support our
teachers, parents and students. In our office we have
Mrs Julie Smith, Mrs Sharon Manning, & Miss Carrie
Turnbull; our school learning and support officers – Mrs
Cherie Smith, Mrs Belinda Maxwell, Mrs Lizzie Lemmich
& Miss Carrie Turnbull; and our general assistant Mr
Wayne Manning. On behalf of our teachers, parents and
students – thank you!
NAPLAN Results
The school have received NAPLAN results, with parents
to receive student results later this term. NAPLAN
assesses aspects of literacy including grammar &
punctuation, reading, spelling and writing, as well as
numeracy. NAPLAN tests are designed to provide you,
your child and their teachers with information about
how your child’s learning is progressing, and if they
need support to improve their literacy and numeracy
skills. NAPLAN results provide information to teachers
and parents on what students know and can do.
However, as NAPLAN provides a snapshot of a
student’s assessment at that point in time, results need
to be interpreted with care and should be considered
together with school based assessments. Your child’s
teacher will have the best insight into your child’s
educational progress. Please make an appointment
with your child’s teacher if you wish to discuss these
results further.
Stage 2 Swimming Program
Next term we will once again be conducting our Stage
2 swimming program. To ensure as little class
disruption as possible, we will be running sessions
each Monday – Friday for the first 2 weeks of Term 4.
The sessions will be held in the afternoons. Our school
heavily subsidises these sessions with only a cost to
our families to cover pool entry. Notes will be sent
home next week.
Trent Barrett Success
Well done to both our boys and girls teams who
competed at this week’s Trent Barrett Shield. Thank you
to Mrs Davis, Mrs New, Mrs Butt & Mr Field for
preparing our teams and to the big contingent of parent
helpers/ cheerers!
SRC - Father’s Day Stall
A big thankyou to our wonderful SRC and Mrs White
for organising and running the Father’s Day Stall for
this year. The SRC will use these funds to purchase
equipment for the school, based on what the students
feel we need in the school. Earlier this year funds
previously raised by the SRC went towards purchasing
a 3D printer for students to use. We are currently in the
process of redesigning and purchasing furniture to
outfit a learning space within the Library.

Donations to Junee North
We would like to take this opportunity to send out a
big thank you to all of our wonderful families who
assist and support us in many ways. Recently we have
received some very thoughtful and very much
appreciated resources for our school from our families.
We also want to extend our appreciation to our
parents who assist with transporting our students to
out of school activities and assisting with coaching our
students in sporting teams.
Thank you Kennedy & family for donating a much
needed hose so that we can water our vegetables.
Thank you to the Butt family for their kind donation of
a set of sporting singlets for our students to wear
proudly at sporting events. A big thank you to our
model – Keegan!
Thank you to our hard working and dedicated P&C
members for their fund raising efforts and for their
very generous donation of two sets of brand new
sporting attire, including shirts, shorts & socks.
Thank you to our models – Destini & Caitlyn

SRC Report
Our SRC held its annual Father’s Day stall last week from
Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th of August. This year, as
well as having a range of gifts to choose from, students
were also able to purchase tickets in our Father’s Day
raffle. Congratulations to Kennedy and his dad on
winning the selection of Dad prizes. A huge thank you
to all the families who supported our fundraiser this
year. Because of your generosity, the SRC raised over
$1200 for the school. Many thanks to both infants and
primary SRC members for their enthusiastic assistance
during this time. – Mrs White & SRC

Tournament of Minds
Last Saturday 7 students from Junee North participated
in the regional Tournament of Minds competition.
TOM is an International program designed to
encourage students to develop their co-operative
problem solving skills and celebrate their creative and
critical thinking. There are 4 disciplines with Junee
North choosing the Arts. There challenge was to
rewrite “The Wizard of Oz” as if set in Australia. They
had to choose where there “yellow brick road” would
lead, overcome challenges and create overarching
concepts.
Aimee, Riley, Ashton, Ruby, Tristan, Jack and Caitlyn
had to make all their own props and costumes from a
limited resource list and design and perform an
original script including an original song and several
dances. Following their performance, the team then
had to compete in a five minute spontaneous
challenge.
After working on the challenge for the past 6 weeks,
the performance was perfect!
Although Thurgoona Public won the primary Arts
division, the team from Junee North should be very
proud of their achievements.
