Third Sunday of Easter

April 26, 2020

FOCUS: Let us rejoice in the good news of salvation: Jesus

is God’s promise fulfilled.

The joy of the Easter season is still with us as we rejoice in the

risen Christ. He is truly present to us in the celebration of the

Mass. He is the promise fulfilled, and we are nourished with

his Word, and his body and blood. Just like those on the road

to Emmaus, we know him in the breaking of the bread.

LITURGY OF THE WORD: In the first reading, Peter pro-

claims to the Jews and all in Jerusalem that Jesus, commend-

ed to them by God, was also killed by them. But that God

raised him up. Peter writes that all have been ransomed by

the precious blood of Christ. In the Gospel, two disciples

traveled from Jerusalem to Emmaus, discussing all that had

happened. Jesus joined them, but they did not recognize him

until they sat for a meal and he took bread, said the blessing,

broke it, and gave it to them.

REFLECTION: Jesus explains the Scriptures to the two dis-

ciples on the road. The biblical Word of God is proclaimed

and explained so that new insight is given to them. Then, as

we do in worship, after having the Word of God, the needy

disciples gather around the table with Jesus where bread is

blessed, broken and given to them.

So we ask ourselves:

Has the Word of God ever made your heart burn within

you as it did for the disciples?

If you do not already, why not turn to the Scriptures each

day to discover, as the disciples did, Christ’s living pres-

ence with you?

Please keep in your prayers

All the nurses, doctors, hospital staff, those sick with Coronavirus, patients in hospitals, EMTs, scientists, our military troops, firefighters, law en-forcement, truck drivers, delivery people, store employees, government officials, caregivers, students, teachers, parents, everyone staying in their homes, and all those who have died and their families.

My Jesus, I believe that You

are present in the Most Holy

Sacrament. I love You

above all things, and I desire

to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if

you were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

We are all one family under God. He does not abandon

us. He goes with us even now in this time of trial and

testing. It is important for us to anchor our hearts in the

hope that we have in Jesus Christ. Now is the time to

intensify our prayers and sacrifices for the love of God

and the love of our neighbor. Let us draw closer to one

another in our love for Him and rediscover the things

that truly matter in our lives.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the angels and

Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your

beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with

your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for

us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world,

and for all our families and loved ones, the protection

of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of

this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to

obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the

cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe

away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of

trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love

one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to

bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence knowing that you tru-

ly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and

cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantel of your

protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help

us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Sponsor a Student (2020-2021)

This program helps our families who want to send their children to Saint Cecilia School and may have some financial difficulty along the way. With your help these families can keep their child in our school and receive a good Catholic education.

There are several gifting levels and payment options - You can make a one time payment or select any option you wish. We will identify those students with the great-est need and allocate the funds accordingly. For more information on this program or to give a tax deductible gift, please feel free to contact Lisa Hnat, Tuition Coordi-nator at [email protected].

Our classroom is in shambles All I’ve treasured is gone

The school seems deserted Everyone’s so forlorn

A storm came from up above

But somehow it missed The Church of St. Cecilia

The bells in the school Never ring anymore

The clock in the steeple Can’t tell time as before

But up on the hillside

That is blessed

The Church of St. Cecilia

Each day at 2:50 When I seek haven from my daily care

You’ll find me by her side It seems so peaceful there

I kneel in my solitude and silently pray That heaven will protect you, dear

And there’ll come a day The storm will be over and we’ll meet again

At the Church of St. Cecilia
