What are causes and effects of a hurricane?

2 quart plastic bowl Tap water Scissors String Stick Paper clip Masking tape Black pepper Wooden spoon Paper

Materials

1. We filled the plastic bowl three fourths full with water.

2. Next we cut the string one inch longer than the plastic bowl.

3. After that we tied one end of the string to the paper clip.

4. Then we tied the other end of the string to the stick.

5. We sprinkled pepper over the

surface of the water in the bowl.

6. We stirred the water with a spoon counterclockwise.

7. While the water was swirling we quickly suspended the paper clip in the center of the swirling water.

ResultsAll the pepper collected in the middle that represented the eye of the hurricane.

If you moved the stick to the side of the bowl and the paper clip is still suspended the water pulls the paper clip to the middle that tells us the wind of a hurricane is stronger on the outside.

The paper clip didn’t move that much because it was in the middle, and in the middle of a hurricane the winds are much calmer then the outside of a hurricane.

We cut out two triangles from the piece of paper and stirred the water in the bowl. N ext we put the triangles in the bowl one on the side and one in the middle. We counted how many times the triangles went around the bowl in 10 seconds, that represented how fast the wind of a hurricane is. The wind is faster in the middle of a hurricane we know because when we did the triangles the average results in the middle were 15 times around and on the outside the average results were 3 times.

We decided to use this verse because God is like a hurricane and a flood. He is very powerful like these two destructive storms.
