History Universal was founded by: Carl Laemmle, Mark Dintenfass, Charles O. Bauman, Pat Powers, Jules Brulatour, David Horsley, Robert H. Cochrane, William Swanson, Adam Kessel
It is the second oldest surviving film studio in the United states
It is the fourth oldest worldwide
It is a member of the ‘Motion Picture Association of America’ (APAA)
It is one of the ‘Big Six’ alongside: Warner Brothers, Disney, Columbia, Paramount and 20th Century Fox
I have chosen Universal because it has distributed films similar to ours
Such as; Red Dragon, Hannibal, Lucy, Bourne, Van Heling and more
It has also produced many successful action film meaning we could appeal to the audience that those films reach as well as people who enjoy watching thrillers as our overall film would be very action heavy
While also having an element of psychological moments much like Silence of the Lambs and its prequels Red Dragon and Hannibal.
Universal have previously got creative with its ways of marketing a film.
For Pitch Perfect 2 Universal used social media to raise awareness for the film
They bought snapchat filters so people could use it and see that the film was on while also sharing it with their friends
Also at the premiere of the film snapchats were taken, Instagram's were posted, it was known as the most social premiere of all time
The film sponsored Iggy Azalea and Britney Spears' must video for ‘Pretty Girls’ and sponsored ABC Family tv show ‘Pretty Little Liars’ as they already had a large audience
Film4 Productions is a British film production company owned by Channel Four Television Corporation.
The company has made a lot of British films
Tessa Rodd was head of Film4 Productions from 2002-2014
I have chosen Film4 Productions because they are known for making small budget films that are very successful
They have made films such as; Trainspotting, T2 Trainspotting, Attack The Block, Dogma, Slumdog Millionaire and many more
They have many first time directors while also having recurring successful directors such as; Danny Boyle (Director of Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire)
As my film is very small budget with first time directors I would choose Film4 Productions, they have made other films that have been really successful and I feel like it would be a really good fit for our film.
Because of the small budget it wouldn’t be on the scale of a product Universal would release
This is why I believe that Film4 would be a good fit for our thriller.
