HOW TO PICK A CASTERBy Caster Specialists
WHAT IS A CASTER?
No, not a spell caster....
WHAT IS A CASTER?
Casters are a wheel and fastener that attach to something, such as furniture,
to make it mobile.
SO WHAT?
At the office
In the medical industry
In the home
Casters were invented by David A. Fisher in 1876 and they are pretty important to our modern lives...

When shopping for the perfect caster consider:
HOW THE CASTER ATTACHES
Post Caster (a.k.a. Stem Caster)
Screw-On Caster (a.k.a. Plate Caster)
TYPE OF FURNITURE
What type of furniture will the caster attach to?
For example, chairs are a special case because your weight is not always distributed evenly. If you roll or lean in the chair some casters will need to support extra weight.
WEIGHT OF FURNITURE
Check casters for their weight capacity. Multiply the capacity by the number of casters you’ll be attaching. The piece of furniture should weight less than that number.
FLOORING
The type of flooring you have will determine which casters you can use.
Wood or smooth floors (ex. laminate) - Use soft casters such as those made from polyurethane or rubber to protect the floor from damage
Carpet - Use hard casters so the carpet doesn’t snag every time you move
SPECIAL FEATURES?Casters can come with many special features including:
Locks
Shock absorbers
Antibacterial material
