– Wireless “G” – 802.11g
• Data Transmission speed of up to 54Mbs
Advantages of Wireless Networking
• NO WIRES!
– No crawling in the attic to hang wires
• Easy to change configuration
– Move a computer from one room to another or between floors
• Easy expandability
– Add new computers and wireless printers to the network
• Lower cost associated with a changing environment
Disadvantages of Wireless Networking
• Prone to interference
– Many portable telephones and some cellular phones
– Some kitchen appliances
– Some structural materials degrade signal
• Distance from Access Point
– Some buildings have poor signal transmission distances
– Building can have “Cold” spots where no signal can reach
• Poor Security
