The exhibition, entitled ‘Shades of Grey – exposing our hidden gems’ showcases the work of Sunraysia Inspired Photographers (SIP), a local group of people who share a love of photography.

Thirteen photographers are exhibiting twenty-five black and white portraits of the ‘hidden gems’ in our community, people who often go unnoticed and who ultimately gain their pleasure from simple acts of gratitude, kindness or hard work. The works focus on those individuals who have forged their own mark: their voluntary contributions and their life history.

We all have struggles in life. The disquietude trophy project is about visually acknowledging everyday battles that have been endured and overcome.

Over the past four months Kate Cotching, a visual artist and social worker has been working with diverse groups of people in Mildura to create trophy like sculptures that symbolise resilience and achievements. The works will be exhibited at the Mildura Arts Centre and we invite the public to come along to one of the open workshops at MAC to add to the display.
