If you will be at least a sophomore (greater than 29 credits) in Fall 2012, have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or above and possess a strong interest in helping others, this is the program for you!

General Information:

•You must enroll in FYR 314: This is a 2-credit course held during the fall semester. Mentors must also attend all FYI 100 classes, and act as a role model for the students in the First-Year Program.

•Each peer mentor will receive a letter grade for the FYR 314 course.

•You must attend formal training sessions.

All FYR 314 Classes are on Mondays and Begin at 7 PM and End at 9 PM.

ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities

Peer Mentor’s Course Responsibilities:

•Attend one FYR 100 class for a continuous 50 minutes each week.

•Speak to his or her class every week.

•Act as a role model for student behavior.

•Participate in the field trip and at least one other co-curricular activity with his or her students. 

•Meet with students outside of the class, either one-on-one or in small groups.
