Journal Citation Reports
• Open Access Data for DOAJ and Hybrid journals
• All years display tab
• On 23 April open access data will be added to the Journal Citation Reports profile pages as part of a beta release to increase transparency around open access models in scholarly publishing.
• The new data show each journal’s papers by access model. This provides funders, publishers, librarians, and researchers with transparent, publisher-neutral information about the relative contribution of open access articles to a journal’s overall volume of content and citations. The new feature is in beta until the release of the 2020 Journal Citation Reports in June. For the 5,256 hybrid journals in the Journal Citation Reports, readers will quickly and easily be able to identify:
• the number of papers published via the traditional subscription model
• those published via Creative Commons licenses (‘gold’ open access).

Quickly changing open access landscape

Researchers are increasingly interested in open access publishing but are sometimes unaware of university guidelines and confused about funder mandates.
Publishers are under increasing pressure from research funders to improve their open access options, and to ‘flip’ traditional subscription or hybrid journals.
Libraries are negotiating transformative agreements with publishers, educating faculty and students, and tracking evolving policies from multiple stakeholders.
