Elf on the Shelf is a holiday tradition in the
U.S. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas,
parents put the elf in a different place every
day so that it can be a scout for Santa.
Loudoun Economic Development borrowed
this idea to promote Loudoun businesses on
social media. Tell us what you think:

MEET ED: HE’S TAKEN OVER OUR INSTAGRAMMy name is Ed the Elf and I usually
spend the holiday season on a shelf,
checking to see who is naughty and
nice. This year, I flew in from the North
Pole to learn more about the REALLY
nice business that’s happening in
Loudoun County!
My first view of Loudoun came from the
sky over Washington Dulles
International Airport, which has been a
major hub for United Airlines for more
than 30 years. If you can help me with
my bag, we’ll start our tour of Loudoun
business!@loudounbiz

ED CHECKED OUT SOME FAMOUS
LOUDOUN COMPANIES
Ed the Elf here, in front of the practice
bubble of my favorite NFL team. The
‘Skins may play at FedEx Field, but
their corporate headquarters is in
Loudoun County, Virginia!
Loudoun is home to more than 11,000
businesses, including tech startups,
federal government contractors, and
the largest concentration of data
centers in the world.

ED VISITED LOUDOUN COLLEGES
It’s finals season in Loudoun, and I,
Ed the Elf, am here to wish students
good luck and spread some holiday
cheer.
George Washington University’s
Loudoun campus offers 20 academic
degree programs and focuses on
science and technology, which has
helped create one of the most highly
educated tech workforces in the U.S. @loudounbiz

scissors for a ribbon-cutting.
@loudounbiz celebrates ground-
breakings and grand openings of
companies moving to or expanding in
Loudoun County. In 2017 alone, we
welcomed more than 40 businesses to
their new homes.

ED EVEN TOOK TIME FOR SOME FUN
Ed the Elf here, and I just love
awards! 🏆 Many of Loudoun’s 47
wineries have been honored by the
wine industry.
Casanel Vineyards and Winery
recently won best wine in Virginia for
the 2015 Petit Verdot in the Harvest
Challenge International Wine
Competition.
What a great place to celebrate
Prohibition Repeal Day! Cheers! 🍷
