unique method of using oil paints.
The 18 works on display are
created using only his breath and
thinned oil paint. Carey describes
his process as "a return to the
human element in art, each mark
on the canvas is air from my lungs,
a moment in existence."
The works are both mesmerizing
and ethereal, reflecting a process
that "focuses on using a stream of
consciousness composition to
amalgamate the colors into a literal
representation of my breath."

Hannah Barco: Fathomings
April 11 11am-5pm Tempe
Campus
ASU Art
Museum
Hannah Barco responds to ASU
scholars as they work to make our
physical, political and social realities
more legible and coherent. How many
ways can we find our footing in this
murky landscape? For "Fathomings,"
Barco assembles an installation to
occupy the gallery with these various
perspectives and when she returns in
the spring, will host a participatory
performance that stages the
artwork’s undoing.
"Hannah Barco: Fathomings" is part of
projectWALK, a collaboration between
the Museum of Walking, ASU Art
Museum and additional campus and
community partners, which
investigates the everyday activity of
walking in one of the least walkable
