Feature: Infant Seat with Rebound Bar (cont.)• Anti-Rebound Bar

– Why? In severe crashes, the rebound at the end could result in baby hitting the vehicle seatback. Some infant car seats have an anti-rebound bar on the base to minimize the chances that baby will pop up that far in a crash.

– The anti-rebound bar isn't required for the car seat to be safe.

• Many infant car seats have a very deep shell that contains the baby during rebound and protects against hitting the vehicle seat.

Feature: Low Birth Weight Foam/Inserts

Lock Offs

• They serve the pre-crash locking system for the child seat. • Provided on some seats to make installation more convenient.• By using the lock-off, the caregiver does not need to identify what

type of latch plate or retractor is in their vehicle.• There is wide variation in the designs and correct uses of

the built in lock-offs on the current market. • Each manufacturer, and even different models from the same

manufacturer, can have a different style and instruction for use of the built-in lock-offs.

• Some child seats direct you to use one lock-off and others to use two.
