    PERFORMING ARTS

Saturday 29 June 2013The Table of Knowledge

In The Table of Knowledge, version 1.0 turns its forensic theatrical vision to the so-called sexfor development corruption scandal that engulfed Wollongong City Council in 2008. Usingthe transcripts of the ICAC Inquiry, the script is based almost entirely on the actual words ofthe central characters. This is an utterly compelling and hilarious interrogation of power, corruption and good governance in contemporary Australia. Performing at the PortlandCivic Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday 29 June 2013.

    Wednesday 3 July 2013

On Air. The program consists of four works, all of which are choreographed by Simon Hoy. OnAir, is a pure dance work inspired by our fundamental human interdependence with music byClaude Debussy. Focussed on Aspects of Light, is based on a poem by Faye Jones,Separation, with music by Dmitri Shostakovich. Submerged mirrors the endless possibilities ofour lives and scope for development. It is never too late to try and create a better tomorrow.Music by Samuel Barber. Motion Transcend is a classical ballet about picture, line, andsilhouette, an emphasis on grace within each gesture and intricacies of each linking moment.Music by Frederic Chopin. Cost on entry. Delectable Shelter Delectable Shelter is a riotous, no-holds-barred portrait of western society, facing the end of the world as they know it. In a bunker deep under the Earth's surface, thelast five humans are left after ``the end of the world''. Their job is to ensure the human racesurvives for the 350 years it takes before it is safe to return to the surface. As these five verydifferent individuals plan their utopian society they introduce a hilarious breeding program.Their daftness contrasts with the darkness of the underground; all culminating in a purelyhilarious gospel choir belting out 80s love ballads. The performances are excellent The

Age. Originally produced by The Hayloft Project and Theatre Works. Cost on entry.Approximately 90 minutes, no interval. Warning: Performance contains coarse language, adult themes, sexual references, smoking & 80s music. This event is part of the Glenelg ShireCouncil Arts Program. To be held at the Portland Arts Centre on Saturday, 6 July 2013 at7:30pm. For further information contact Lynda ph: 5522 2263, [email protected] or web: www.glenelg.vic.gov.au
