whats on weeks 5-6

Student Union Elections The last few weeks of term are upon us already which means the Easter break is just around the corner! 260 students from Winchester will soon be embarking on tour to Rimini and Easter eggs will be being consumed across the country (If you haven’t given up chocolate for Lent that is!). May I also take this opportunity to wish all you third years the best of luck in completing your FYP’s. I can sympathise with how stressful this time is and must highlight how important it is to take lots of breaks and ensure to take control of your planning and time management. We are here throughout the Easter break should you require any help, guidance or even just a hug! The fast approaching Easter Break also signals the opening of the Student Union Elections; your opportunity to either run as a candidate or vote to decide next year’s executive committee. Nominations are open from Monday 14 th March and forms can be collected from the Student Union Reception or online. The deadline for these forms will be Wednesday 4 th May at 4pm. It is so important and beneficial to your Winchester experience to get involved with the Student Union. Whether applying for a full or part time position, you are elected to represent student views and ensure that the student voice is at the forefront of policy decisions and direction. Use the next few weeks to speak to the current officers and what their position entails. If you have ever wanted to make a difference or change at University, then here is your chance! Do not miss the opportunity! The Executive positions for 2011-2012 are: Student Union President (Officer Trustee) Vice President, Participation & Development (Officer Trustee) Academic Affairs (Executive Officer) Activities (Executive Officer) Communications (Executive Officer) Community Action (Executive Officer) Equal Opportunities (Executive Officer) Ethical & Environmental (Executive Officer) International Students (Executive Officer) MPP [Mature, Part time, Postgraduate] (Executive Officer) Services (Executive Officer) Welfare (Executive Officer) Full details are available on our website at: http://www.winchesterstudents.co.uk/yourunion/elections_democracy I hope you all have an amazing Easter break and look forward to seeing you, either over the holidays or back when the final summer term begins! ‘The purpose of representation is to secure educational and institutional change' Seb Miell SU President 2010-11 Monday 14th March - Friday 25th March
